Great move from Kent. Welcome to Montreal. People ask what you can bring to the team. Coming from a military background, conquering your mental health issues is and being able to talk about it with your peers might just be one of the best asset the Habs just acquired.

The MSL connection could be absolutely huge. Look at how marty dealt with a similar loss in the family to pat during his playing career. Super inspiring to someone whos gone through that so i cant imagine what he could do for pat. Plus great group of guys and fans who will go to bat for you and show you love like no other team

when he went to Columbus he had Torts as his coach and alot of players had problems with him... seems his coaching style is not for a lot of players and they want away from him...Montreal gives him a time to reset and get back on track. he has 2 years to prove himself and MSL will be great for his career

all torts asks is for players to work hard, especially the dudes that are supposed to be the leaders of the team. laine was simply unwilling.....that's not really a torts issue. torts gets everything he possibly he can out of what he is given. look at some of those columbus rosters, look at philly. he just gets shit done
@ogdentaylor7473

@@1225vcs”gets shit done” What exactly has he done in Columbus and Philly to warrant you getting on your knees and sucking him off? One fluke series win where Bobrovsky carried the team? The guy has a losing coaching record. His entire reputation banks on a Cup win 20 years ago with a superteam and zero results since then.

@@1225vcs It's not all simple as black and white. Hell if it was that simple, I can be a coach. "He just asks for players to work hard, especially the dudes that are supposed to be the leaders of the team". That's cool and all but how did he do it? How was the message conveyed? What was said? I'm not saying Torts is a bad coach. I think Torts is one of the best but Torts is a little old fashioned. Not all players will respond the same ooga booga methods. Some players require a softer touch, others require a kick in the ass. Regardless of how Patrik Laine pans out, you can't hate this trade for the Habs. You traded a 3rd rounder for a 2nd round pick and a potential 30-50 goal scorer... and you have the heavy contract for only 2 years. Completely risk free with the potential to be the biggest fleece Kent Hughes has done yet.

@@joshs.9036 I completely agree about some players needing a different way. Torts philosophy is if you can't handle the pressure from me you can't handle the pressure of big games and playoff games. And if you can't handle me you shouldn't be here. And the organizations that hire him know that. He's kind of there to weed certain guys out tbh. It definitely doesn't work for every player. But the ones it doesn't work for are guys like PLD and Laine. Laine ain't young anymore and now he's on his 3rd team as a former second overall that says a lot about him. But I also agree this is FANTASTIC for Montreal. They got him for free. If it he sucks who cares because there's no pressure for them to win rn. And you know Montreal isn't reupping him for 9 plus when the contact is done so I'd expect he's traded at this deadline or next. And if he can produce they turn this tiny ass investment into a first and a prospect probably. Just say that happens 2 deadline from now... You know a lot of their kids will have improved by that point and they could be knocking on the door of a playoff spot. They're now in the position of adding futures when teams in that spot are usually sacrificing futures to add to get over the hump. It's excellent gm'img

A short while ago he was 19 and wanting to be god, getting treated like god, not easy when you hit a road block, then you hit another one. He had to figure out what he was all about. He seems very mature and honest. Just give him some games to get going and stick with the program. Can't wait until October. But yeah figure he'll be good once Christmas comes around.
