This is so cute Angie. It's simple to make but really adorable. I loved hearing the story of your Dad. God bless him for all he must have gone through. You must be very proud of him. My dad was a WW2 veteran. All men and women who served or are serving deserve our praise and thanks.!

I just LOVE this box! Thank you for sharing the story about your dad, I know you were so proud of him. My husband is 20 year Navy retired. He’s now serving as Director of Veteran Services. This box will be an excellent “Thank You” I can make up and keep several in the office at all times. Peppermints would also look great in here because of the red & white color. Thank YOU for such an amazing treat box for them to enjoy & a little something to THANK them for service to our country. 🇺🇸❤️

Very thoughtful gift box. Thank you for remembering our veterans. I am a US Army veteran and I appreciate anything patriotic however frequently Memorial Day gets confused with Veterans Day. Memorial is a day we honor our fallen soldiers and the sacrifices made by our troops. Never say "Happy Memorial Day" rather say something more respectful. Veteran's day on November 11th is a much more lively event where we celebrate all those that have served such as your husband and father. Your flower from the set you used for your sentiment is so very perfect for May. May is red poppy month as remembrance to fallen in conflict, also. It usually has the accompanied phrase "lest we forget." Just thought you and others might like to the know the difference to both holidays. I will make these boxes for Veteran's Day or 4th of July. BTW yesterday was Armed Forces Day (not widely celebrated once you leave the service).

Great idea! My Dad was career Air Force so I was born and raised on military bases. He was in WWII & Korea. My twin brother was a Marine and my husband is an AF vet. This is a nice little thank you for Veterans. I live near a few so will definitely be giving some of these out. Some candy boxes are too little but this is a nice size. Thank you!! 🤗🤗

My Dad was a POW in WWII. He was a Bombardier in the Army/Air Force. It was during the last two years of the war. He was in several POW Camps inside Germany for about 18 months, and liberated by soldiers with Patton's 3rd Army before the war ended. But, given that Patton was already inside Germany, the days of Hitler and the NAZI party were numbered. My Dad said that all those Air Corps guys were so excited when they heard those tanks coming and so grateful when they saw them top the hill next to the camp they were in. Even though my Dad's group was being marched in stages toward Berlin, most probably to be used as bargaining power with the Allies, sometime during the night the Germans had fled. Germany was finished and their soldiers knew it. The POWs knew they would be free that day. I think our military is pretty wonderful too.

Aw! Such a familiar story. My Dad was liberated by the Italians. He was also in the Army and he was a paratrooper, which is how he was captured. He said that there was a snitch who leaked where they were going to land. He was also in a camp in Germany, but was befriended by a German soldier and he would try to help my Dad. We both have Heroes as our Dad's. My Dad is no longer with us, but He will always be Hero, along with so many others like your Dad! This was the greatest generation! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
