I watched the video to see if I should spend $250 in it, and... it looks cool in super battle mode (I don't remember how was named this mode in the anime), but now that I see it, it looks more like a statue than a toy you can pose, I think I'll pass it, and, who knows, maybe in a future, Hasbro makes a new version.

What could make an already perfect toy even more perfect? Add die-cast metal, a lot of bling and an extra trailer to combine. Seriously, I never thought there was a way to make this guy look even more impressive. I love it. :D

Brilliant review and very detailed. I had the original Powermaster toy as a 10-year old and loved it, and a few years ago I picked it up again while at a Transformers & Such get together. It's cool seeing the Apex armour reviewed. Good stuff.

Good partsformer. Fans Hobby just released God Armor to go with their Power Baser. It has missile launcher that fires and comes with two swords. He also comes with Headmaster Jrs.

Man I remember playing with someone else power master prime and I thought was cool but was iffy on the gimmick. I would love to see a nice update to this figure. I think there was one but with the current line going would love to see happen. Maybe in the 3rd part. The God Bomber/Apex Armor really blew me away seeing here. Great review and one cool Prime/Ginrai.

the cheapest (and worst one) is the PoTP one if you go third party route you got Perfect Effects's, Maketoys and Fanshobby they're on masterpiece price point tho

Awesome review. I have the 1988 US version of PM Optimus Prime, he was my first Optimus figure and I have always loved him.......until I found out about this version (which I still don't have). My issues with the Hasbro 1988 version were the sticker windows and the fist on the trailer, and this version as you know made them better. I also love all the extras, the color of the trailer, the chrome and the die-cast metal.

Awesome review, brother! I've wanted this thing for years, but as yet, haven't been able to nab one. I don't necessarily care so much about the APEX Armor aspect, BUT at the same time it's a cool option to have... My main interest is the chrome parts, better colors, and the hidden fists of the main figure & trailer that make the combined PMOP mode. I absolutely love the G1 PMOP I have, but I've been thinking I MIGHT just do a custom chrome and paint job on the second PMOP I bought a few years ago, that was intended to become what Fans Hobby have provided me with their awesome POWER BASER (PMOP) figure...thus negating my need to customize my duplicate into a larger, more articulated version for my modern collection. That said, it looks like I'm going to have to invest in a second set of the PMOP Toyhax decals, but money well spent...! I may even decide to articulate those arms and hide the fists, maybe even the legs too, we'll see. For now, it's trailer paint and truck/bot mode(s) chrome, to start with. Awesome set, and I'm psyched that you were able to make that find at TFCon! HOOO-AH!

How are the blue plastic pieces holding up? I had purchased the Takara re-issue and years later all of the blue parts basically started shattering ala GPS. Pretty terrible. I fixed most of it salvaging junker OG G1 parts, so now mine is a Frankenstein of sorts.

@@PatriotPrimeReviews To be fair mine was second hand. It was complete in box however. But, I think perhaps it were stored in a poor environment like maybe a garage or attic. It's the only other reason I can think of. Every blue plastic piece shattered. Put the gun in his hand and that shattered. Legs shattered. Only the blue plastic pieces...everything else is fine. Just the weirdest thing.

​@@eightbit1975I recently cleaned my E-Hobby version of God Ginrai and his blue feet on the small version of Prime crumpled off like Lego and basically everything else you went through. I might have to find another on eBay because I don't have the time or trust in epoxy.

@@Holy_Wraith There is certainly a GPS sort of issue with the blue plastic on this toy. If you look very closely at the dark blue plastic you can see gold speckles. One day more people will find out it is crumbling as well. Really sad.

I know this is a older figure but that is a awesome figure for sure. Only bad part mine is still MIB. LOL I have the G1 version I know it's not the same without Apex but I don't open any of my figures. I play with the ones my kids open or if I find loose cheap I will buy them. But most of the time I only buy G1 and G2 figures loose. One good thing about the commemorative series is their box's are perfect for displaying.

And that's what I do if I really wanna play with a figure. Lol my kids have a good size collection to mess with as well. Plus dusting a sealed collection so much easier than loose displayed. Lol

I've mentioned it a few times on my videos and i will probably mention it again but i truly believe that this is not only the best transformers toy ever made but perhaps the greatest toy ever. It's big, colourful and immensely playable. So many parts and forms to create. Even if you were someone not in to transformers it is just an incredible toy to have. Great review. @@thespaceram2879 I think the Commemorative edition of this toy in 2002 retailed for $50. I could see it being like $80 today, but $180 is conspicuously high. Most of the recent G1 reissues have been overpriced, and most end up on clearance.

Please go get the Takara Tomy version, its a much better version then this with retractable fists and the cab is metal. Better still add in the Fire Guts God Ginrai and the Black Nucleon Quest.
