Patriots Suffered Their Worst Loss Since Tom Brady Left

On Monday's edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the guys reacted to the Patriots 15-10 loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. In reacting to the Patriots poor play, Scott Zolak concluded that this was the worst Patriots loss since Tom Brady left the organization.

The thing we know as “the process” is either wait for the QB to develop while playing, or sitting behind a good veteran QB and thats not what’s going on here. Brissett is nothing but a backup QB, Maye is learning nothing. The #1 pick has 3-2 record, the #2 pick is 4-1 and Nix in Denver is 3-2. Wth the Patriots are doing? This can affect Maye mentally, smh.

He was struggling to overcome his own shortcomings and chasing a personal record, which undermined the entire ethos of the operation ("team over the individual"). The fans and media knew it and likely, so did the players. The end result was a toxic environment full of the end of the road talent and bargain basement acquisitions mixed in with a couple of decent players that have gotten stunted. The rebuild has begun because the band-aid is finally off and all of what you see comes with it. At least now, players will be evaluated and the operation will be brought in line with the modern cultural and economic reality of the NFL.

The rule is correct just like you having to maintain possession of the catch through out in the End zone vs breaking the plane on a run. The rule is a good rule.

It’s not a good rule as presently written. If you drag your toe near the side of the endzone and go out of bounds, it’s still a TD. But since Polk tapped his toe(which you have to do to initiate a drag anyway) they looked at the entire foot instead of what hit first, as opposed to just looking at what hit first like they do on toe drag plays. I just explained the rule perfectly and 99% of people would still consider it convoluted. That’s how stupid the current phrasing of that particular rule is

It was purposely left vague so the refs can fix games by choosing when they allow something to be a catch and when they don’t. Vegas won a ton when that TD was called back.

The rule is fine and really quite basic. It may be written awkwardly, but that's it. Arguing that this should be a catch is the same as arguing that if a guy is facing the boundary and his second foot's heel hits in, but his toes are out that it should be a catch. This has never been a catch in the NFL, it's 1 foot in, college rules.
