In 24 years Belichick never had the luxury of a number 3 position in the NFL draft. Even when he had a losing season the team won! I am positive this year's draft position is the best thing that could have happened for the team moving forward. Tribute to Belichick picking middle to most years at the end of the first round in the draft. Despite the Pats being a victim of their own success by picking late in the draft, he still managed to pull out 6 Super Bowl Wins! The quality of players to choose from when a team draft position is late versus early is the difference between night and day in the NFL. Based on the salary cap and poor draft position this Dynasty defied all odds, and proved beyond any reasonable doubt he was an amazing TEACHER of the game of football. Bill Belichick single-handedly taught the late-round draft picks how to be better than people thought they were. I see all the same qualities in Coach Mayo, because all he wants to do is TEACH football, and all the rest will fall into place. Belichick lost favor with the owner, the players, and the fans when, without an explanation, he benched Malcolm Butler in the Superbowl. Despite that, he still won 6 Superbowls going to 9 with the Patriots, and winning 2 with the Giants. Who is ever going to touch that record, the answer is nobody! Apparently, it's a new era in the NFL because it appears players have to like their coach, ala Andy Reid. We'll see how having a likable coach works out for the Pats, but make no mistake Coach Mayo can TEACH football which should equate to success!Thank you, Coach Belichick, for an Amazing Journey, and Best of Luck Coach Mayo! That was Jerod’s job, him, R’aas I-Dowling, being the final front, and you had Spikes & Merywether as the dirty hitmen, and we just didn’t give a f, did we win? That’s all that matters not if it was a dirty chop block or spikes and Brandon’s headhunting. AND ON THE VERY COMMON SCENE if Brandon Spikes, ejection, guess what, that was our green light if your gonna get yourself taken out, TAKE OUT THE QB so he doesn’t return to the game either and guess what Coach Mayo was doing? Holding the QB or RBs legs so they didn’t fall so Spikes had a direct hit, or on the goalline catching the RB over the top allowing Patrick Chung to do the same and goalline shoulder block hoping for a mid-air fumble. concussions and torn ACLs were the goal in that situation, and the rule preventing goalline jumping, was because Mayo and Polomalu realized the DTS head in a 3 pt stance provided great takeoff ramps, and no one dared try doing that to us cuz Big Vince Wilfork made sure you paid the price if you tried, right Sanchez! Kissing your Cs *** cuz Vinnie forklifted the C right into you. THATS THE PATRIOTS I MISS, and we were feared and fear wins wars. And omg the bloodbath that was guaranteed AT LEAST twice a year against Gang Green, the memories still give me chills, the cussing the hits THAT F N FOOTBALL! I for one am excited for change. This generation of players need to relate with coaches in this era. The game truly has changed, and things have gotten softer. Well, we've moved on from Mr. Belichick. Good or bad move we won't know for a while. However, I think Mike Vrabel may have been a better choice for now, and make Jerod the DC. I think it's just a little too early to make him a head coach right now. He's a good man but maybe should be the DC and get just a little more experience. They’re also speaking in different contexts. Kraft is basically saying “I’ll hire whoever I feel is the best coach for my football team, regardless of color.” And Mayo is saying “it’s significant that I’m the first black Patriots head coach.” Kind of awkward on paper, but when you think about what they’re actually talking about it makes sense.
