The year he was drafted by NE was the first year I really got into the draft and wanted the Lions to take him. I remember NE was only picking high because CAR traded a future 1st for an early 2nd so they could grab a guy in the year before who ended up being a bust and NE ended up with a top 10 pick. That trade had so many long term ramifications for the Patriots. There's no way he would've made it to their other 1st round pick which was probably late 20's early 30's.

I love Jerod Mayo but I think this is a huge mistake. I remember watching him as an analyst in the local area there. He was... OK. He STARTED coaching in 2019. And in his fifth year he's a head coach. I hope to hell I'm wrong but I don't think anyone should be a head coach until they've coached at least 8 years, maybe 12. I think they made this plan with no idea Vrabel could ever be available.

Tua might be playing well, but Herbert is a better QB, and if he was playing rn with Mike McDaniel, he would have thrown for 5k yard and 40+ TDs and Reek would be over 2k. His deep ball is much better. Tyreek is always slowing down and looking back for passes with Tua. With Herbert, he'd be lead into the deep ball more.

I distinctively remember Mayo laying a massive hit on a Ravens player in the playoffs and he tore his Pec. Was devastated but the hit was one to remember. Nobody could run up the middle with him and Spikes together.

I believe Mayo could be a good HC someday. But he has very little coaching experience, no HC experience and the roster is atrocious. I fear we are looking at another disaster next year.
