This is really interesting so thankyou Dr mihail! I think also, that when "covid" hit, large numbers of people had doubts about it, and after a very short while, we saw the lies and control mechanisms introduced which began to change our thinking! The spark of God which is in us all, but was darkened, was lit and we started to look for a more solid foundation on which to live our lives. Many people came to Christianity, to all kinds of churches, beliefs and practices, in order to try and make sense of all that was occurring around us. This quest for truth led many of us to Orthodoxy and it is a life changing exposure to the truth, the only truth in life. Even here in South western Australia, there is occurring a dramatic increase of interest and so many are young people with young families! We have one Priest for the whole of south west western Australia, (a huge area!) we are ROCOR, and we have to use an old no longer used protestant church for services. Covid began the search for truth and it continues...May God bless and keep you Fr Josiah.

@@thewrightoknowdear tim, it would be so much better if you go to an Orthodox church and talk to a priest about such things.. they are far more equipped to speak about them than i . The Orthodox Church sees Itself (rightly, i believe) as the church of Pentecost. There are quite lovely services on that day.. wonderful prayers called Kneeling Vespers that come after the Divine Liturgy. . It would be lovely if you could attend one.. The Church does not believe that any gifts ceased, as far as i know, but the services do not emphasize them in the way that the faith you are probably in at the moment does The services are far different..and they go back to the very beginning of the Church. Perhaps more elaborate than could be held in catacombs but of the same essence. I have heard and read many stories of the saints and how the Holy Spirit has manifested Himself to them. I know that monastics have experienced many things.. But always in a way unlike, as i understand them, what i believe you might be engaged in. Would be so much better if you talked to a priest about all of this. Many former evangelicals such as you have turned to the Orthodox Church.. ☦💝📿💝☦

Be so careful in "charismatic" movement, beware of many masks, and cloaks. It is fertile ground for self exaltation due to fact that each (out of order) person can simply match credentials with any challenger, thereby putting the challenger in the position of proving what is "of The Spirit"!! So two spiritual truths immediately come into the picture. One, that when many Words are used...Much Speaking...there is much room for error! And Two, The Kingdom of God is NOT in word But IN POWER! Children may run around like little gossips, claiming Gifts of The Spirit! I was fooled by the apparent "Move" in a youth group, until a few years later many of their "faked lives" came apart, and shocking behaviors came to light! Peer pressures, Adults with r8osy expectations...too much pressure on Young persons!! But the same things then came out in the open among supposed "adults"!!! When So Much is supposedly (in the power of The Spirit) without respect or submission to Mature Elders....it is a hopeless recipe!😮 Maturity is better than some claimed gifts! Temperance! The Lord God is not in a hurry! Why do children suppose they can Hurry things! And children are All ages, in earthly years! I say it in Love, no judgement! Be careful to not be involved in that which may harm others! Amen!

Asked and researched… found out 1965 orthodox and Catholics became one. God showed me the resistant Orthodox of 1917 and 1924, the “Old Calendarists”, who recognised the Godless Communist and Masonic World Order in progress. So we were baptised into the Church of Christ. Glory to God for all things! World Orthodoxy is just that, of worldly things, and we see this now with libertarianism in orthodoxy. Christ is One. One Body, One Faith, One hope, one Baptism.

It's always astonishing to witness how God uses the terrible things man does, like that certain virus, to turn it into something wonderful. It reminds me of the words of St. Paisios who, when asked why God allows terrible things to happen in this world, he replied the He only allows them until they can be turned into something good. It's such a hopeful thing to remember *while* you go through hard times. Sidenote: I wondered when watching HBO's Cernobîl how could God allow that to happen and a quote at the end of the series kind of answered me. Gorbaciov's quote, where he expressed his opinion that the nuclear accident was probably the main cause of the fall of USSR. So, only God knows how many lives were actually saved in the aftermath because under totalitarian regimes people die left and right without notice or anyone being punished for it.

I was raised in the Greek orthodox church and was a lost soul. When Jesus came unto my heart ( Rev. 1:20) I was born again, a new creature in Christ. It's all about Jesus. I do not bow down to the icons, nor pray to Mary, or dead saints, or reverence their bones. That contradicts the Word of God. I live in Greece now, born and raised Chicagoen, spreading the Good News of Jesus, because the people here know about tradition, but know nothing of God's word. They are perishing. They make God's Word void by their traditions. The Bible is our final authority. Jesus is our only mediator to God.
