I do remember having to trade with a cord. Also if I wanted to play at night without my parents knowing, I had that light that plugged into the side of your gameboy. All battery powered too. Just recently started after finding out this game was real. I'd always dreamed of playing pokemon as an mmo, ever since I played red on the original gameboy. I was so naive that I couldn't figure out how to leave the house for an hour. I even used my master ball on a ponyta, not knowing it was 1 of a kind. These guides are tremendously helpful in giving me guidance on how to proceed how I want through the game. But if I may ask, why do you name your timestamps "tip" with no other description? Your 63 tips video is great, but I watch your videos at work and if hear information I need, I have to search through your entire videos to refind the tip I was looking for. Is there no way to add a description to each tip?

I feel the opposite, I think it’s cool to get a Pokémon someone either spent time breeding or caught a good roll on or even played through the game with. I’ve been using my own Pokémon to beat the game for over 20 years so it’s cool to have some options and Pokémon with almost a background to them, adds a bit more to the game in my opinion. It is always special though to have OTs of your own to go through the journey with.

I had no idea how lucky i was!! I started this game for the very first time 2 days ago. I started in kanto and encountered a shiny Paris in Mt. Moon. Insanely low level of encounters! But my dog knocked my headphones off my desk and i was auto pilot knocking pokemon out to train a little. I had no idea it was shiny until i read, shiny paris was defeated or whatever the wording is! I'll be kicking myself over that one for a long time!! 😢

I find it cool that you went into a bit of detail about the shinies. I recall making a comment a while back on your one video about tips for beginners? I think it was? I don't remember what it was, but I said I guess selling shinies is an option. Those rates are insane, I probably wouldn't sell one just based on the rates. Unless it's one that sells for like more money than I would know what to do with, cuz I really don't care for shinies. But having a 1/30k would probably make me not even consider selling it.

Same here but during my Hoenn play through, I just got surf and was making my way to the Flying Gym, when I FORGOT to put on my Super Repel, out came a Shiny Wingull, awesome rain setter with Drizzle, such a beast. Funny enough I also had it shiny in the original games!

It took me 37 hours to clear all 4 regions with my alt character, I just bought 4 Sandile with moxie ability and that was pretty easy to go, I think that someone very well prepared could do it in 33 hours maybe less, nice vid Pat' :)

what happens when you overlevel a mon passed a gym? Let's say for example.... Gym leader Whitney really frustrates you, so you level up a fighting type pokemon to level 33. Would that mon not be allowed to be used in that battle? or would the mon that you caught on your team become disobedient? Would your starter also do the same thing?

I noticed the AI was better but I wasn't sure if they actually had 6x31Ivs, so thank you for confirming it! Should I be selling any 1x31, or should I keep them if I want to make that pokemon later? I also didn't realize Nature was more important than IV, kinda wish I paid more attention to that.

Patrouski is the goat! The biggest recommendations I can give a new player are save as much money as you can untill you beat all the regions and join pats discord. The discord is super helpfull and amazing for mid to late game money making.

so you mention nature +10% being a huge difference, i have one timburr that's 31 attk 31 speed but mild nature, and another with 20 attk and 18 speed but lonely nature, which is better?

9 months too late but incase someone else has a similar situation, the lonely Timburr is better, especially since Timburr is primarily a physical attacker. To understand why, let’s take these to an extreme. Let’s say the Timburr has a Lonely nature (+attack, -defense) but has +0 in its Attack IV. It will do more damage than a Timburr that’s Mild (+S. Attack, -Def) but with +31 in its attack IV. That is because natures increase the stats by a percentage, meanwhile IVs increase them by a small flat amount. On a low level Timburr, you’re not gonna notice the difference all that much, but max out it’s level and reach it’s final evolution where its attack stat is even higher and you’ll notice the difference Now let’s consider the fact that the lonely timburr has +20 to its attack IV and not +0 like the above example. The lonely one got its attack plus the 10 percent increase plus the bonus +20 stat, vs the mild one which just has attack plus the 0 percent increase plus +31

great video patrouski! I think your maths was a little off about deEVing pokemon tho: you said it would take 260k to take away EV from HP, DEF, SPATK and SPDEF. But 180 EV is 18 berries, which at 1000k a piece comes out for a total of 18k. Not a huge deal, but my brain wouldn't let it go.

It just helps you know what mons are worth value when you go to sell Pokemon :) Usually you end up releasing most mons not labeled in some way, either 1x31, 2x31, noted, etc. Nowadays you can just sort for any pokemon with 1x31 ivs within your PC/GTL advanced search. @ Yes exactly, they are usually still valuable with just 1x31 because of breeding. Males are often better by default for breeding purposes ye, but females of DESIRED species (IE: Eevee, Dratini, Gible) Will be more valuable than males of the same species because most people WANT those pokemon for PvP/PvM/Casual Reasons.

Unfortunately i believe the catch rates are custom, BUT i usually use the gen 5 catch rate calc (here: www.dragonflycave.com/calculators/gen-v-catch-rate) to get a GENERAL idea of what it might be, but usually PokeMMO is much tougher

I’m still new (only 2 badges) but I read that most legendaries aren’t in the game for balancing. I got info from others in chat on what is available yesterday… Roaming Legendaries (Beasts and Birds) are available to permanently catch after you get 8 badges in Kanto and Johto respectively. In Johto, you also have to beat Ho-Oh for the Beasts. There is only 1 Bird and 1 Beast roaming at time, they rotate monthly. You can catch them multiple times but only once a month. Shaymin will be available during the Lunar New Year events. You can catch Zekrom but can only use it for two battles, then it stays in your room. There’s also “king of hill” legendaries, meaning you will have to accept all PVP requests and if the opponent wins, they will take it from you if you lose the match. I think you also lose them if you log off. Not worth it imo, but they are Mewtwo(Kanto), Lugia(Johto), Rayquaza(Hoenn), Arceus(Sinnoh), Keldeo(Unova)

No you need to trade with another player for an evolution, you can usually find CMs in global chat though if u dont want to trust a random person. Most people willing to help in my discord is also safe. Scamming is against the rules, so most people arent willing to risk getting perma banned for a storyline mon or even a 5x31 pokemon.

if its not worth selling because theyre so rare then why keep a shiny? for bragging rights? if their ivs are bad or theyre just a bad pokemon for battling then whats the point in keeping them if youre not interested in collecting them or having them. To me shiny pokemon are cool but unless its something like a shiny Rayquaza (yes I know you cant have legendaries in pokemmo) then I honestly couldnt care less about it so the only value it would have to me is how much it can sell for. Maybe bragging but at the end of the day, even that doesnt have any value because its like saying "hey im better than you ive got a shiny" when that just simply isnt the case in any way and only looks bad on yourself (just my opinion when it comes to bragging about things, not just pokemon)
