What knowledge and skills nomads pass to their kids? All of them are survival skills in the first place. How to catch reindeer. How to how to tame a reindeer. How to make a sled. How to send your location to other people (well these days using radio set). Also kids study the sience but in their own nomad way...

WOW! To think that they live the way there ancestors did is truly amazing to me. I'm in awe of such survival skills. It's truly eye opening, most of us have lost our connection to our ancestors and their way of living. They are happy with one another, a closeness, respect and trust of family that I've never known within my 60 + years . So grateful for your showing us these wonderful people, their lives, I had absolutely no idea that families like them existed! Makes me sad for us that have never experienced such love and respect for each other, the land and all the gifts we truly have. At the same time, truly happy for them. Thank you.

This is a #RussianPropaganda video. Do you really think ruskis have the #equipment, an expensive and fast computer, the latest film editing #software and the training required to do this themselves? Have you stopped to wonder why it’s not in russian? There are #340million of them! Why bother to do this in #English!? They do this in almost every language, target this to all age groups, all around the world. This is NOT reality of russia. Russians DO NOT behave like this. This is a scripted video to lull you into a belief that they are not the sick sadists who cut up women and children’s bodies in their own homes. A #Ukrainian friend told me that these psychopaths stayed in her village and forced some women to cook for them during the occupation, promising not to hurt them. After the Ukrainian army fought them off, people went to check on the ladies. I won’t tell you what they did to their bodies, but in the women’s #blood, russians wrote *thanks for the hospitality* That IS the real face of a russian. This is a manipulation. This is just a brainwashing channel, just like EliFromRussia, Tom from Texas, Keuin B.. there are loads of them. These are just some of the ones targeting English speakers. #RussianWarCrimes #RussiaATerroristState #RussianArmyChildRapists #RussianPropaganda #Manipulation #FascistRussia

@Haley Hackney ... me too... modern education makes one a slave to the society ... to work for fulfilling the basic necessities of life such as food and shelter which the other animals attain without going to work... without even having a bank account, currencies to buy food etc...😓...human beings loose all the freedom to enjoy a very happy natural life and consequently make their lives miserable and unhappy...😓...sad but true

That won't help them much in the changing world, they're going to struggle without basic education. Do you think that all the young ones want to stay nomads? Global warming will make that life harder and harder and those kids grow up with no skills to survive in modern cities =/

These are great videos. My friend from high school moved to the high artic in Canada and has met a native woman and raised his entire family there for 30 years. They speak there native languages all the time unless they go to town, and they then have certain members talk. They are proud of their culture and language and want to preserve it. They also have reindeer herds. They are also solar powered and have phone and internet service at all times, everywhere. They have dog sled teams but also ski doo. They, like yourselves, publish their culture to the internet for others to learn. Great job. I wish these people happiness.

They don't wear braces! Braces spoil not only your teeth but facial bones and shape as well! Only several people really need braces on medical reasons. Others just wast their health and natural beauty. Western people mouth is narrow. Teeth are crowded and air ways are narrowed. Look at herders! Their mouth is wide and teeth are wide and not crowded. They keep loosing their teeth tho because of all western food and sweets nowadays which is sad

Living in cold temps like this is so much better for the food situation. Imagine living somewhere warm where food would rot in a day. You’d have to constantly be searching for food all day, every day, non-stop. Living in the Arctic ensures that these people have access to different foods through the year (apart for maybe a few weeks in the summer). Fish, caribou, berries, can all be frozen and relied upon. Of course herding caribou means they basically have a constant supply of that food source but for other groups in the Arctic, seal and fish are the food most are dependant on. If I had to choose to live somewhere warm all the time and food quality not guaranteed (imagine getting sick from food when there is no help for hundreds and hundreds of km) or cold where food can be frozen and stored almost year round, I would choose the latter without hesitation.

Adults and children are speaking Russian on this video. Nomads speak Nenets. Children grow up speaking it but at age seven they are sent away to boarding school in the nearest village and begin learning Russian. 💕☮🌎🌌

So interesting. Was wondering the type of dogs they use? I have found watching documentaries about the nomads to be enteraining.

This 360° option is of not use to people who are receiving on their phones but casting to a flat screen on a home theater because while it's being cast you can't control it to see different angles, only if you are watching on a phone can you control the view...

I 've got a question, if you's have snowmobiles why not use them to pull the belongings? you could instead of building just sleds build a trailer to haul all your stuff. don't get me wrong, i think its great you's still use he reindeer to pull the sleds & such, but you seem to go back & forth you herd the reindeer with snowmobiles so you can throw ropes to catch them yet you use sleds to make the reindeer pull. I get some of what your doing growing we had horses & cattle. we used our horses for EVERYTHING & the snowmoblies in the winter when using horses became impractical. So i need a little help understanding the reasoning.

Great question! There is a book of anthropologist Kirill Istomin who also was puzzled by this question. When reindeer herders do nomad they use their mental maps to navigate. It's much easier to navigate in a sled because reindeer are slower than snowmobile. Also on snowmobile nomads can't catch the wind. Which is part of their mental navigation. On snowmobile wind is blowing hard in your face all the time right? Also some routs are difficult to be covered by machines (too deep snow no gas supply for many hundreds km) there are other reasons like spiritual and sticking to traditions

How do they make their money? I have only seen a couple of videos, which I enjoy. They are always herding. Do they sell them?

On another video, they made money by selling reindeers(for meat and by-products), making skin/fur clothing (like the shoes), making cultural tourist items and for some, selling any land held to geology/mining companies. Also by doing home-stays for people wanting to experience their lives.

I love that they're very close, but I'm with the mom about letting my kids go to boarding school in cuz once they're out of your sight anybody could do anything to him and how are you help, we live in a wicked world.. I would teach him at home.. they can learn more from their parents when they could from outsiders
