Beach casting for mackrel was the last I did, but like you, I hadn't fished since I was about 11 or 12. I used to go with mates, taking tents with us and we'd fish canals, lakes and rivers all weekend. All good stuff.

Fishing these days seems too technical and complicated, when i was a young boy we used to pack soft clay around a super strong firework, wait 5 secs before the lob in and boom, up came the floaters.
