This story has been sent to me by a lady called Lek (not her real name) who spent years working in bars in Pattaya and is now married and living in the UK. This story is amazing! Lek takes us on a journey of love and hate in the mean town of Pattaya which is a beach town 2 hours South of Bangkok.

Great story, sounds so familiar to my wife. Met on Thai Friendly and then in Phuket. I bar fined her my whole trip and then kept in contact, I didn't want her to continue working on the bar so I helped her until I could bring her back to California. Been married 6 years now and loving life. Best person I've ever met. Brought her daughter over who is now my daughter. Like this story it can work....

The bar girls lie to the customers and the customers lie to the girls. Her job is to make the customer feel handsome, interesting and desirable. The guy usually wants a passionate love affair, but he knows he will soon have to go home to his normal life, so he temporarily plays the role of the man he wishes he could be all the time.

And some see great money in it and become professional hookers. What she's doing is a gateway to professional prostitution and I learned one thing as a New Yorker, "You treat a person as such in their field of profession" got my drift? If you're a doctor, a lawyer, a judge, an engineer, a prostitute etc, you should be treated as such. She is a classical example of how MGTOW sees a woman. "The only thing you can do for a living is to sell P***Y, take that away and you are absolutely nothing"

I've lived here for a while and have never met a bar girl that's worth dating seriously. It was probably a lot better back in the day before smartphones and social media. Meeting a normal honest girl in a bar is near impossible now unless she's very new.

Well its 2 :30 am and I took a long lunch break (night shift me) for this one . Totally awesome story by Lek and Paul. I see a lot of parallels obviously. Loved how Lek described those young guys in the bars expecting something for nothing and all that. I may have been just as arrogant and self assured as those young guys back in the day if I hit the bar scene in Thailand. Thankfully I was older and wiser when I did. Lek tells such a heartfelt account and Pauls bit at the end is quite emotional too. I totally get his anxiety and worry. My wife and I have a saying "Past is Past forget about it Buddy". It makes sense to an Australian . Its beautiful to see That sometimes it does work out as it has for Paul and Lek. See guys not everyone is out to scam you. The whole dilemma of continuing to work for Lek was a big issue and a total gut wrencher I see that. Paul trying to adjust and accept her past also. At the end of the day the future is what counts. How could anyone wish for more, a beautiful intelligent Thai wife plus children and a happy future it doesnt get any better than that . So big thanks from 2 people like you Paul and Lek. You overcame a lot and can be soo very proud of the life you both have today. To any potential critics this story was long but beautiful and so glad it didnt get cut down and Pete dedicated a whole show it this one special story. To critic number 2 . No Pete could not have dreamt this one up while he was watering the daisies with scotch on the weekend . My wife is going to love reading this one BTW. 🇦🇺💯%💯%💯%♥♥🙏🙏

great last story. very inspirational. however, I'm surprised Paul still thinks about Lek's past "exercises" when he's happily married n has a child. i had an amazing former ktv girlfriend n never worried about her past. I realized she needed to do that given her circumstances. she would even tell me white lies but I always responded, "I'm ok. you needed to make money." she always responded with a smile thanking me for my understanding. I hope he will eventually forget

Great true story Peter, so glad it’s worked out for both of them and especially that she was able to have a child. Most people have no clue the difficulties that those who grow up in poverty have to deal with and some of the choices they have to make to get by. There is no social safety net in Thailand with generous benefits like in the west, it’s a struggle everyday.

For all the individuals who judge, my suggestion is look in the mirror if everyone knows your past what do you want to be with you. Secondly the heart wants what the heart wants, we don't pick and choose who we fall in love with, the only real question is, is it genuine or is it about the money. We are all human and we should treat others with respect and dignity no matter what, And this is coming from someone who goes to Thailand for anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months at a time, Just remember do not BS the working girls because they've heard it all.

Thank you Peter (and Lek) for a fantastic story. The life story of most of the bar girls in Thailand could not have been told in a better way. This honest explanation of the different feelings that happen between a bar girl and the customer is something that all new visitors to Thailand need to know about before they let their heart control their body and mind. One very important thing for all to remember is that this happened with a girl already over 30 and may never happen with a bar girl around 20 to 25. I get the impression that most of the young guys that visit there (especially those from Australia) only do so for as much sex as they can get without showing any respect for the girls and that to me is disgusting. I think this may also apply to many of the young guys that visit from India. I am a gentleman and think that it is time for a lot of the younger guys in this world to find out how to respect females. The guy's life would be much better if he did and I know that from experience. Show them more respect and they will show you more love.

Thank you very very much for this wonderful story. Superbly and impeccably written and narrated, kudos to Lek, her husband, and you for such a vivid and eloquent 30 minutes. Subscribed and liked! It really shows amongst the hundreds and thousands of horror stories revolving around marrying bar girls, there will always be that diamond in the dust. I think the key difference in this success story is the age or "readiness" of the girl to actually settle down to a normal life rather than those 20-somethings who aren't actually out to settle down but rather to find the bigger sugar daddy down the line. Beautiful.

Who am I to argue with success or a happy ending. But, based on the story facts she started walking in the bars from 18 to almost 40. Let’s say 20 years. How did she survive so long and not become an alcoholic/ drug addict, pregnant, or at the very least too jaded to develop a healthy relationship. She is obviously an above average women. Wow Peter great story, hats off to Lek and Paul for overcoming all the pain and obstacles and making that Long Distance Relationship Work. You never know How things can work out in Life I am Happy for Both of them for what they Had to Overcome and Wish them all a Lifetime of good health and happiness. I admire Lek for taking on the responsibility of supporting the household at a young age. I'm sure like her and many of the bar Girls that wasn't there dream job, I'm sure they all had dreams of being an actress, singers, movie star, doctor, lawyer nurse working in an office Etc. I'm sure some of your viewers will say they have choices. That's true but everybody has different abilities and circumstances to earn a living. How many kids in the Westin country could go out and support their family at Leks age. In the west it's the opposite the kids live off their parents. It's a shame that girls have to resort to working in the bars and sell their bodies to make money to support their family. The really sad part of it is at the end of the day they are someone's daughter. These girls and their parents probably never expected to end up in that circumstance when they got older. Not all Bar girls are bad I'm sure they have feelings and not all girls that work in businesses, stores and offices are good. Go figure it defies logic. If there's a God I hope he watches out for the bar girls and keeps them safe. All the best to Lek, Paul and their son. THANK PETER GREAT JOB AS USUAL.

Great story and pretty much confirms everything we know, but good to hear it from her perspective. She was openly honest about how they lie to customers (if that makes sense) but also how customers lie to them so its a quid pro quo thing. But also good to know that underneath it all she is just like any other human being, looking for a loving relationship, a decent future and solid ground that she can depend upon. But probably a 35 year old bar girl might be more open to settling down than a 25 year old who just sees the money. Bar girls are still a highly risky prospect, and each individual is different but yeah, we’re all human with similar hopes and dreams! 🤷🏼‍♂️

A friend of mine, also an military pilot, and married, fell for the most beautiful girl in the bar near our base in Thailand. Her name was Rain. We left Thailand near the end of the war. Not too long later he was in a reception line at his base in the US, with his wife, mother and father. His father was a General officer and they were greeting troops who had returned from the war. There, in the reception line with her Sergeant husband, was Rain. They shook hands.

A good honest account it would seem......I had to smile at the end when ' Paul states " I don't know why I chose to go to Pattaya....but some friends had said it was fun " ...😆....I think he knew the script.

Well lets just say no one goes there for the beach and the pristine water. It wasnt that long ago raw sewage was pumped out to sea . The water is still brown 20 years later

With enough money, if I were looking for some serious debauchery, I would rent a full time room in a nice Soapy Massage place, and just run downstairs and grab a new girl every so often. 🙂

Thanks Peter. I have met a few bar girls that were genuine and would give up the life in a second. I have also interacted with quite a few that are "skilled" at extracting baht from you.For example, "Lets go to XXXXXX". Ok this means you pay for everything. If she brings friend's or family even more money for you to pay being used.

Many things here are so very true. When I was with a very beautiful bar girl I was lucky enough to have a job that paid enough for me to go to Pattaya for 6 months and return to England and work for a month before going back again. The one thing Paul didn't really have to say anything about was knowing the lies the bar girls told. To a Thai bar girl I love you means I love your money. I ended up leaving Pattaya and going to live in Korat, Nakhonratchasima where I started teaching English. I met a girl who became my wife. She was a teacher in a technical college so had never been a bar girl. We've been married for more than 20 years and have a daughter who is now nearly 13 years old. We still live In a house we built together in Korat where after living here for 23 years and now and me being 69 years old, I'm sure I'll be here until I die. I am planning to take my daughter to England for her first visit there next march 2023. I bought our tickets in January 2020 just before Covid started and We've had to wait nearly 3 years to be able to go.

It's always good to hear other peoples experiences. Alot of guy's I know are married to Thai bar girls and you don't hear these guys complaining about their wives. Quite often the guys married to Western woman never stop complaining about their wives or their devastating divorces. The Thais and other Asians in general are very sensitive to how you treat them. If your an arsehole or you leave them alone in the suburbs for long periods while you work away your relationship has a good chance of failing.

I've run across and through a culture glitch that Lek mentions several time. As a general Anglosphere thing, we often say "OK, I will be back" or something like "I'll come back tomorrow/this week" and we think its good. As if its courteous. I'm not sure why we do that but it's like some common thing. Versus As a general East Asia thing, they take that differently. They seem to take it as a vow, a promise and when we don't go back as promised they are highly annoyed. They do see it as being a 'liar' and then they take it "alright, well I will definitely be back soon" is some 'mind game' foreigners are playing. It does not compute with them. I've said "ok, i will come visit your store tomorrow" and came 3 days later instead and was scolded "You said you come back next day.. why didn't you?". This seems to be a common cultural misunderstanding. *nothing to do with 'bar girls' I mean just anything, any service or situation.

It amazes me how many guys meet a girl in a bar and then get hung up on the fact that they work in a bar! Never judge a person by their occupation or what they say, only by what they do. Looks like these guys worked that out. Congratz.

Just goes to show, not all girls/women are gold digging bitches, some are actually looking for the same thing a lot of men are looking for, happiness. The trust part is so hard to gauge for both sides of the bar.
