Thank you for that information helps a lot. I’m brand new to the bird game. Haven’t even patterned my shotgun yet, but I did order one of your chokes.

You nailed it Jimmy. Pattern density all day long. I patterned test my 28 bore recently with 3/4 & full chokes 21 gram lead. Well impressed with the pattern destiny considering the light payload.

Jim, I just don’t know why you stress so much about TSS being such a small margin of error which I agree if you use the same size shot for all shot materials but most hunters don’t use same size shot. We go to much smaller sizes than steel thus increasing pellet count allowing us to open our chokes creating margin of error while maintaining the energy and range. Example one once #9 TSS is 363 pellets to the one once steel 315 pellets and #9 TSS is far superior to #6 steel for lethal energy.

Steel and bismuth #6 lack penetration past 35 yards on duck and pheasant when shot at 1250 fps...a dense pattern of #6 means eating a lot of steel or bismuth if the shot is lethal...why not shoot #3 bismuth at the same speed and aim tight and fully penetrate the bird with 1 and 1/8 and not cripple
