Karon, The pintucks, waistband and pockets look great. They are very well made. These pants look so soft and comfy. You could wear them as casual loungewear.

I had a surgery in December and even before could not where anything tight. I did sew a similar pant in a beautiful wool. I could where something nice and was not restrain. The only negative is the bulkiness of the waist. I made an other one with the same pattern and have put a band (like a yoga pant) from a good quality t-shirt my hubby was not wearing.

Could you put a yoga style waist band on the pants to give the pants less volume…just a thought
@cookeka16 күн бұрын
That's possible. I am in the process of making another and will see how that make turns out.

I think the trousers look really nice on you. In fact, seeing yours has made me think I will purchase the pattern. Perhaps it is how you have styled them? Try with a shirt, worn long and French tucked. I appreciate it’s how you feel about them though. But they really look great! Don’t be too critical of your work ❤

Thanks for the tips, Ruth. The fabric is really soft and comfy. Although not so happy with the fit, I will be trying it with a shirt😀 Another from linen will be the next one.

Someone suggested a yoga style waistband and I agree but it the goal is to tuck your shirt in you need another option. I’d like to suggest watching Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles waistbands for knits video. She has some helpful tips when dealing with bulky fabrics and waistbands.

Hi Karon! First I want to say your hair looks especially gorgeous. For the pants, I keep going back and forth on getting that pattern. But S9272 is my tried and true and they look so much alike. I guess the difference is these are for wovens and have the beautiful pintucks, while s9272 is for knits. I slimmed down some of the volume in the legs and they are perfect. I made a wonderful pair in heavy ponte and they are work appropriate. For the drawstring I just ordered a pack of replacement shoelaces on Amazon. I got 57" long which was good for my waist measurement plus enough to tie nicely. I got a great selection of colors and of course two of each! Plenty for all the future pairs of pants. 😊 I'm glad you found a pants pattern you love. Overall, they look great.

Karon, I understand not liking the" puffyness." The fabric IS a little heavier, BUT instead of 2 rows of elastic, use either 1 row of 3/4 inch or 1 inch elastic and that would make a big difference with this fabric. LOVE the way your things turn out!!!🥰

I'm glad to see your review of this pattern as I also purchased it but have not tried it yet. I think you got a great fit! I wonder if a yoga waistband application that I've been hearing about would work, too? Anyway, they are the best of both worlds as the pintuck down the front lends some style and formality while the soft waistband brings comfort and easy fitting!
@cookeka13 күн бұрын
That yoga waistband is a great idea. Thanks for sharing! Others have suggested the same as well. It is really a comfortable fit, and I live the pintucks.

Hi Karen, when I sew with a thicker fabric I don’t add a separate waistband, I extend the pattern and do a fold over elastic waistband because of all the issues you are describing (like the Butterick pants from your previous videos). Definitely not something you did wrong. If I do attach a separate waistband, I only sew the single layer, then stitch in the ditch after folding over, but sometimes that seems too thick also. Your sewing is always impeccable!

Karon have you seen m8527? , essentially just like these but im guessing a better waistband install. Stretch band in back, fly front & button in the front and i know first hand palmer pletsch patterns are top tier! Love your videos btw . You have great style

Hello Karon! I really like your Mimi G pants you made and modeled. But I totally understand why you aren’t overly satisfied with them. I think they look too “ fluffy” aka bulky. But they are so well made by you. It’s the thickness of that knit, I think, nothing you did ,,and, they are great! I have that pattern and really should get it out and try to sew up a pr and see what happens when I sew them. I may have some problems as I am “ fluffy” around my waistline but pull on pants are my go to. IVE had two total knee replacements and a major back surgery so pull on pants for me sre my go to. Just easier as I have to wesr thicker support hose after having a blood clot in my left leg following tge back surgery. Therefore my left leg knee and ankle are swollen all the time. I wear the easiest knit clothes most times I can shop for or sew up. . What about a cute printed longer top!? Or do you prefer a tuck in style? I never tuck my tops or blouse in so a nice hip or bum covering longer knit top would be my idea. I don’t like that extra twill tape or any kind of extra “ string” to tighten my pants either. It’s just addng extra fluff I sure don’t need. But you sewed them excellently as always. Glummy n lightly snowing here today. Ug. I’m over it and we’ve got weeks of winter left. My twin daughters are together this coming week, the oldest one lives in Fla so the no2 twin flew down late Fri night after an hr delay sitting on the plane. We had quite a bit of snow most of Friday afternoon n evening. By Tuesday it’s to get bitter cold, again. Uggg! Stay warm and keep sewing as you do such a wonderful job on your garments. For now, Nancy, Fort Wayne In .

Hey Nancy... great to know you have recovered well from your procedures. I totally understand the choice of pull on pants at this time. I will be making them again from a thinner fabric and also a linen. I believe a broad elastic in the waist would look better for me with this fabric. Our bodies adjust frequently, and I need to keep that in mind when choosing styles and patterns. It is cold here too and not much snow, which I appreciate. Stay warm and enjoy your family, Nancy!

I LOVE the pintuck in those pants! I am about to make a pair of yoga style pants in a nice ponte and hoping to be able to wear them out at the very least for a lunch(??) I didnt want the yoga pant fabric, but I do like the yoga band for all round comfort~ however everyone's comfort waist is different! Did you sew the turtleneck you wore with the pants? Love the way it looks on you, so so cute! Blessings to you and yours~
