a watercolor painting session where i experiment with lines to create patterns within shapes. this painting was inspired by the works of an amazing artist, Maggie Chiang, found on Pinterest.

I went to Pinterest to check out Maggie Chiang's work - oh my - she's an a complete artist and as you can see .. she's got quite a unique style .. she does figurative - abstract - paintings with a message - commercial. Someone might be able to imitate elements of her style but never the complete package. She's technically very refined and very inspiring to we mere mortals. Thanks for the heads up and I'm enjoying your videos which in turn inspire me to learn and try more.

I find it really interesting the way some artists like to have chaotic work and some like have really simple lines. I like both at different times. This is peaceful, but detailed. Not copied at all, but inspired by. Don’t even see a resemblance. Happy beginning of November!

Wonderful painting! I love the line work, an area I do not do well. My hands are shakey so most of my paintings are far from exacting. I am fine with this as my work turns out well in the end. I love this. I agree with you so much about not copying, but because we are visual artists, it is the eye that sees and is inspired by things, so unless one is actually trying to trace something and copy exact shades etc, I don't think that it is copying. I may be wrong.

Actually,I am enjoying your journey and I feel encouraged by that. If you, a seasoned artist, continue to grow and change, then I, a newbie, can find hope in the fact that I am not sure where I fit. And...that is ok. I checked Maggie Chiang's art and the simplicity of her work is wonderful...and no - you did not copy her. You are merely inspired, as you inspire us. I often laugh when I speak to others about anything I do, noting that I do not have an origianl thought in my head (not really true) but I am good at copying. lol. Anything you do that I "copy" gets FULL credit to you and I am grateful to be able to do that.
