So glad your back, missed your radiance, you look fabulous and happy.The wall color and pillow cover is beautiful. Vintage patterns are all so great and the a-line or Tent dress I had made long ago in a green with pink & green polka dot bows, thought I was something. The Butterick with all the pieces looks like a Jackie O ensemble and how fabulous are those little cover ups and Oh Oh the cape with the hood, you can do so much with that one. Fur lined hood or fabulous rainy day cover up. What fun! Great fabric purchase, all so different, see lots of kimono tops with trims and tassels in your future. Nice and light weight for the summer and you will look fabulous and flowing. World traveler shirt for Brad, too cool! Great tip on the thread, thanks! Looks like May will be Marvelous. Happy Creating!

Aww, you’re a doll Kathleen. So glad you like my orange “accent” wall. The rest of the bedroom is pale blue. Then we got a gray velvet bedspread that I adore, it’s heavy and there’s something reassuring about the weight of it. I don’t know if it matches, though. Thanks for all your positive feedback!! I’m excited about another nutty Brad shirt. Fashion Fabrics Club has such tiny pictures, you can only ever see just a corner of the fabric. What a gamble!😄

Oh, man...I see another grand slam with the Bradshirt! And those fabrics were awesome! That glittery lightweight was so beautiful. I made a couple of scarves out of chiffon and added tiny charms to the corners to add some weight. Learned the stitch on serger to finish the scarf edges. I loved it... (Had too much chiffon left over from an overlay.) That yellow is going to make a beautiful dress. So good to see you again. Don’t you just LOVE sweet shop owners on Etsy? I found one and bought my beloved a hand-carved pen holder. Great price and she wrapped it like it was for someone really special. Hand made details...it was WONDERFUL. Hope you all are warming up more than we are...what’s with this year’s weather?! We went road tripping to the Bluegrass, to Lexington, KY. Saw family and had a wonderful time, but brrrrr. I think we took the cold with us - bummer! You’re so beautiful you just bring the Spring back!! Thanks for warming us with your smile!🌻🌻🌻

Scarves with charms sound enchanting! And thanks for the positive vibes about the Bradshirt. (That needs to become a new word.) So happy you had a nice getaway to Kentucky! I remember visiting Lexington as a kid and the showstopping rolling green hills in horse country. Yes to cute Etsy shops!!! Michelle is actually on eBay and she’s a dear. We are warming up here, slowly. Today is breezy and sunny and just about perfect. Had to get in my sun time before sitting down with my 1966 dress project.😄👍Thanks for writing, NK!💕

I like the 1960s Butterick freebie patterns you were sent, I have that pattern, not all that unusual, but the reason I have it was I bought it in the 60s for myself and made many of the views shown because I was in the 7th grade taking home economics, it was always a special pattern to me, so saved it for all these years. I have used it a few time through ought the years.

So glad your back in the groove. Hubby let me stop in at SR Harris in Brooklyn Park MN. Man oh man was I in fabric heaven. Floor to ceiling fabric up about 30 ft. I had an hour 1/2 to shop on our way back to KS. Only touch the knit area. Didn't even see a 1/10 of it. Place has everything you could need for garment/home décor/leathers/silk/bridal. The pricing was much less then Joanns. A bit higher than Fabric Mart when they have their crazy 50-65% off sales. What I really like about it was I could touch all of it. You did the measuring and cutting. On the honor system. I bought 8 pieces and spent 102.00. NO SALES TAX OR SHIPPING. All were 2+ yards. AMAZING...….

Omg Lori, SR Harris sounds amazing. Maybe even amazing enough to be a destination fabric store??! Hmmm! We don’t have any family in MN but surely I could cook up some reason to go.😄I’m glad you got to partake of the magnificence!!

Hey Viv, McCall's 3033, I made capes B and F at 8:38. As a beginner sewer I use donated scraps of fabric and I wanted to try something simple. They turned out great. I have been collecting vintage patterns over the years like a kid collects comic books. The F cape I had green fabric and I stitched on some Santa and Christmas decorations and made a Christmas cape that I wore to a Christmas bazaar and got compliements on it. Also I made a sheer two sided B cape that I wore on a cruise with a sleeveless dress and I got compliments from the family, which was nice. Try one of the capes, its actually cute and it's a quick sew.

Please make the Simplicity wrap skirt to show us. I am so excited that you have that pattern. My mom and I sewed so many skirts using that pattern in the 70s. It is my all time FAVORITE pattern. I even made this skirt for some of my friends. We used cotton prints...cool for the summer. Thanks.

That’s a lovely story, Betty! I will definitely make the wrap skirt! I haven’t worn one since...well, gosh. I think since high school. They’re timeless and flattering. I’m excited!😄You were a sweet friend to sew for others.
@bettyhazel62825 жыл бұрын
Well, the reason that I sewed wrap skirts for my friends is....they would ask me to make things for them, so I would say that I would teach them to sew. So we would set up a time for lessons, but they had no desire to learn...no patience, I guess. They complained that it took sooo long to make something.Thus, I ended up doing it myself. I think all seamstresses deal with this. People constantly asking us to sew and mend for free. I do not even like to mend. I have been asked a hundred times to replace zippers. One lady wanted me to make a dress for her daughter and did not even want to reimburse me for the fabric, much less pay me for my time. Some must think sewing is free and easy! Now I only sew for my loved ones. Sorry to be complaining, but dang-it, I do not like to feel used. Now I am better at just saying NO. Have you ever felt this way?

I love the cape and caftan pattern. I love caftans too. My favorite fabrics were the green linen look, the baroque crepe de sheen, the gorgeous map fabric and the golden abstract rayon challis.

Love, love, love the dress you are wearing! So glad you are sewing again. Sometimes it is hard to get over the hump. I just ordered 5 spools of thread from wawak, yea! Love the new fabric can't wait to see what you make. Thanks for the inspiration!

The dreaded hump...well, fortunately, I’m over it. I kept running into trouble with my April sewing - silly mistakes, bad patterns, mega frustration! Glad to put it behind me. Yay Wawak!! I hope you have a great experience with them. Zippers for .39?!?! Love it!😄👍

The reasons people love you so much is that you are such an energetic and totally enthusiastic person. That is rare in this world. You are so loving in word and deed. I can hardly imagine where you put all of the clothes that you make and how do you use so many clothes?
@vivmomsews49625 жыл бұрын
Aww, Diane, this is such a sweet message. Thank you so much!💕I keep seasonal clothes stored away, and I’m in the “switch” mode now so you wouldn’t want to see my bedroom! Clothes are everywhere. I also have to pull things I haven’t worn and pile them up for donation. I do have enough room in my average closet, because I purged all my store bought clothes (well, say 90%.) I try to wear everything I make at least once or twice before donating...unless it’s a complete loss!

Just started watching your channel ! You are such a joy. Love all your enthusiasm and tips. Love your laid back approach to fitting and your choices of patterns that don’t take a lot of fussy fitting. I am inspired by that and can hopefully sew more and fit less and still look as great as you do.

Hi Viv, great to see you! Loved your haul. For the rayon challis I see that on you as the trapeze dress or the caftan......just sayin. I also order from Wawak, just got an order of jean thread this week, they have such great prices and good quality items 🤩 Thank you for continuing to be an inspiration 💕

So glad you like Wawak, Renee. I hadn’t heard of them until very recently, and I’m a fan. They deliver fast!! I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $5 for shipping, what a bargain. Oooh yes, a rayon challis trapeze dress is definitely calling my name.😄👍

My sewjo has been a bit off too. I'm working to get back in the swing again. I am basically a beginner learning this sewing stuff on my own. You are so fun to watch and always put a smile on my face! Thank you for all the work you do creating these videos...and thank you also for the many reviews you have written on patternreview.com. They are very helpful. Cheers to you, Vivmom!

My hat is off to you, Jamie! Sewing certainly isn’t a “one and done” in terms of learning! I think it’s great that you’re self taught.😄👍I hope I can be of some small help along the way. Thanks for being here!💕
