I've noticed most "easy to sew" patterns have weird instructions. They seem to be trying to make the project easier, but my experience is that it is not simpler that regular step sewing.

Everyone told me let go of my sewing and crafts but I’ll lead them to ur video then they’ll understand why I’m always happy and healthy. I also made sure to get an extra bedroom for my sewing haven. Dear Viv, I recently found your sewing channel and am currently watching every single video on it. Wow! You have blown my mind. I didn’t know someone could sew that many garments per month. As I told my husband you are a “machine”. Now I just refer to you as “the machine”. I sew pathetically slow. One dress per month. You have given me a standard of excellence to get faster. I am so inspired by your fabric choices too.

@@MissCoupons-w1h Hi MissCoupons! Thanks so much for writing. It’s true that I’ve had some good productive months in the past with sewing, but I’ve fallen off lately. I did a little sewing for Christmas gifts. I’m trying to get back on the horse and ride! I think anyone who sews anything is wonderful, and speed or output has nothing to do with it. Enjoying the process and stretching our minds while problem solving are such good things! I’m glad you’re here.😃

I agree and what’s more is that I hope you just enjoy sewing too without any pressure to “perform”. You have simply showed me what’s possible not that producing more faster is the most important thing. Thank you for all that you share because it is so helpful on every level. Keep having fun & thank you for sharing your creative process!

Could you please tell me what kind of hemming stitch that you use for your knit tops and dresses Or the neck lines as well for the knits
@vivmomsews496215 күн бұрын
@@cindyhoskins7594 Hi Cindy, I’m really no frills with hemming knits. Despite owning a coverstitch machine (can you say learning curve avoidance?!) I just turn up and stitch with a straight stitch. I’ve never had problems with straight stitches popping out on my knits. Certainly a narrow zig zag could be used - I don’t always like the look of that. And the option to leave hems raw comes in handy at times, since knit edges will not ravel. Maybe with all this snow in Virginia I could sit down and learn my coverstitch machine - don’t hold your breath.

@vivmomsews496215 күн бұрын
@@cindyhoskins7594 Hi! I answered this over on the other video where you left the question. In a nutshell, I turn up about 1” and stitch down with a straight stitch. If I EVER break out my coverstitch machine, that would produce a more refined result.

From Australia here. In the early 1980’s I would only sew Vogue patterns, and you are correct, I learned a lot in sewing techniques. I haven’t sewn since 2000’s due to work demands but I have only recently resumed my sewing interest as it is enjoyable. I discovered I had missed a lifetime of sewing stretch, and have only just acquired a coverstitch machine. Thank you for this video on Kwik Sew, I was lucky to purchase a huge quantity of Kwik Sew patterns, uncut, from a local seller, who retired!😀

So glad to be back to watch again. Life got too busy to even sew! The coat dress looks very flattering on you. I love the gored skirts but they do use up the fabric! I noticed the top of the buttonhole placket has settled about a quarter inch away from meeting up with the button placket underneath. When I do buttonholes horizontally, that sometimes happens to me. I've had to move buttons to bring the top placket back into place. You did a great job on that collar, despite the undesirable directions. I really enjoy your show. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

The multi shirt dress looks fine, yes it is a little big, but only when you pull it about, I do love it on you.. The shoulder has too much length, if you put a thin shoulder pad in, can make on very easy, that will sort out all the problems, and then will fit your shoulder. Did you know, if you turn your phone sideways when you video, you will fill up the whole screen, just a thought. G

Just pop on if you feel like it with doggy videos or something that makes you happy. I know this is a sewing channel but don't force yourself to do something you aren't happy doing to put out a video. I love the first dress! Hello, Thank you for sharing your 1973 Vogue book with us. I remember making a Vogue dress somewhere around 1970-1972. I was so surprised to find a fairly easy Vogue pattern! It was a Paris A-line dress with pockets in the side seams. I believe the sleeves were mid length and kind of bell-like. If I remember right, the collar was raised in the back and came to points in the front. I would love to find that pattern again.
