As I look at these crazy patterns, it makes me love even more my favorite show of the season, Ralph Lauren’s. The extreme, weird patterns and designs of other designers just show how desperate they are to seem original. Ralph Lauren incorporates current trends, too, however, he always shows fashion that we women actually want to buy and wear.

Some of those that you call filigree patterns might be called Baroque prints. They’re like those found in historic brocades and the patterns are based on vegetal motives, often artichokes or pineapples, or leaves like acanthus, etc., but in a highly stylized way. They are used in interior design and often in silk scarves. I love those Baroque prints, I always have. Especially in silk, I hope I can find some I like this fall.🙂

You could say pattern instead of print. This is what I do because it incorporates more options, like the woven-in designs of checks and plaids, raised textures, etc. A lot of the patterns in fashion aren’t prints at all, they’re made some other way🙂

I'm a guy, I have a plaid and stripe short sleeved button up shirt in dark orange/blue/red/green; it's very eye catching. Got a comment once in it.

That is awesome! I remember my husband was getting some suits made for him. He picked one and gray and one in black and let me decide on the last one. I chose this brown plat material that he was really against but ordered it anyways. That plaid suit ended up being his favorite.
