Hearing all this just made me wonder how involved in Tommy was starting up things like Video games live. I believe in Tommy's statement about people telling him they would believe things like that wouldn't be successful ( since gaming wasn't as mainstream then), but business wise how involved was Tommy lol. He seems to be okay from a creative perspective, but I just can't see him doing the behind the scenes business stuff with how he ran the Amico lol.

I've always had the same impression Pat and Ian have also said in the past about this whole thing: I don't feel it started out that way, their original intention probably was to actually put out the console, but over time they were in over their heads due to terrible business mismanagement and they wouldn't admit to it out of sheer hubris.

Their arcade lineup are good and their retro dongles are fun, only thing I don't like about them is their false advertising on their package. With a lot of their retro blast dongle, they tend to put the arcade version screenshots in the box but the actual dongle only had the NES or home versions of em, same with the AtGames Sega Genesis products. On the AtGames Sega Genesis that I own, on the box it shows the arcade screenshots of the three Mortal Kombat games but when you play it, it's just the Genesis versions. They could had easily included the hack versions of these MK games as fan remade them to be closer to the arcade games just that they had uglier graphics but nope they prefer the old vanilla version which are worst.

I literally just heard about this after coming across information for Earthworm Jim 4. I was really excited to hear that this series was getting a reboot but now it seems like they used an awesome show and games name to boost interest in this scam. I believe there was a bonafide idea at first, but it quickly became apparent that launching a console is far more complicated than anyone at Intellivision ever imagined. Tommy Tallarico has never even published an indie game, and he wanted to jump straight in to making a game system? Who thought that was going to work? When it became clear that no venture capitalist would fund the thing, it became all about dollar chasing to stay afloat, with Intellivision making bolder and bolder claims to attract someone, anyone, and making it "us vs them" to embolden his PR team of small youtuber hacks. Overpromise, underdeliver, mismanage, abuse of funds, everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. And no, they can't use the pandemic as an excuse. The Atari VCS, the Playdate, the Evercade Vs, Switch OLED, Xbox and Playstation consoles all released during the pandemic. I sympathize with the investors and preorder customers, especially as they're all getting the silent treatment now, but can't help but slap my forehead at the small retro youtubers who were taken in by a charismatic salesman with a fancy car. Really guys? A ride in the Ferrari is all it took?

I would call it incompetence until I found out that they paid themself 100k a year and some even more. they all cashed in on investors without creating something in the end- and getting 100-150k yearly beat being unemployed so many seemed to have kept up the charade at the company - none of them seemed speak up when Tommy kept delaying a product at the last minute which they sure as hell knew was never close to being finished or hitting those aim release dates.

I'm not sure if Ian was referring to my comment about StartEngine or someone else's, but StartEngine told me that Intellivision were the ones who cancelled the campaign. But they said that no money was in escrow and is only charged upon a successful campaign, so the "investors" were basically just putting numbers into the website on a promise that they'd pay up if the campaign was successful. Intellivision could have pulled the money they did raise, apparently, but didn't (probably because they'd have been sued by those investors if they did and had nothing to deliver).
