I love Patti, she didn't sing the song better then Aretha to me. She over dubbed it to me. To much screaming and hollering. Of course if Tina showed more love it's because Tina didn't care for Aretha either. Aretha wasn't the only hater which i doubt she was. They all had some kind of hateraid going on lol, Patti, Glady's, Tina, and Chaka to. Let's not forget about dirty Diana the way she did Glady's. Jennifer Hudson will also over dubbed the songs in the movie RESPECT. I love Jennifer too but it always seem like she's trying to out sing herself. Some songs are not meant to be over dubbed. Some singers have to try so hard when all Aretha did was just let it flow so effortlessly.

Thanks so much for your reaction. I greatly agree. Patti Labelle is a voice in her own category. Simply incomparable. She isn't trying to outsing anyone. She is just trying to use her God-given gift to the height and breath and limits it can go. It's almost boundless. Amazing! Her voice and stylization is distinctive to her. I n additon, she LOVES to sing and you can see and feel the excitement and passion in all her performances. She has a story fraught with adversity, pain, suffering, and challenges, but she persevered and kept her faith in God. Perfect? No. What human being is besides Jesus who walked the earth fully as God and full as man. I feel for Patti Labelle because there are many that want her to modulate herself, shrink her gifting and power for their benefit and to asauge their egos. She is one of the greatest singers of all time and has evolved into one of the most transparent, caring, loving, kind, and generous people. So underrated. I've seen other people who are silently subliminally being asked to become a shrinking violet so that others can shine as the rare flower. Shaking my head at the cool reception and hug she received. She is older now. Some of the power has diminished. But, even in that, her voice remains more powerful and full than many. Thanks again.

@@vm7497 They must have missed their ear infection medicine if they truly believe Patti was the greatest female singer of any time. 🤣🤣 She was a mediocre sharp soprano with an ugly sound, poor ugly phrasing, and no musical merit. Just the sounds of a mad woman screaming. The only good points of her voice was the range she had, her volume which was perfect for stadium extravaganzas like Live Aid, and her electric head voice. But even those things she excelled at could not cover up her sharp tone, which was essentially ugly.

Aretha just a plain ole hater but Patti has also said many times that she isn't going to hold back because God gave her that voice and she will use it at it's total ability and what comes out is what God is letting happen...happen. ;)

I have a different perception watching this now. Aretha probably felt she had to carry herself a certain way, at all times, being that she was The Queen Of Soul. I mean she smiled throughout and she clapped and gave Patti a standing ovation. Also, some people just aren't as excitable or affectionate as others. Everybody is different and don't react the same and that's okay.
