Such competition going on at the end. They were all trying to out-sing Luther. Honestly, Luther should have been solo on “If Only You Knew.” With Luther on stage there was NO competition! If Whitney wasn’t in the room, the only one who could have given him a run for his money would have been Ms. Patti herself! But as you can see, they were ALL trying their hands at the impossible: to out-sing Luther.

I've only seen...vividly recall only two male singers hang/hold their own whilst performing with The Late Great Mr. Luther Vandross and they were: The Late Great Gregory Hines and The Great Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs. Damn near everyone else was blown away like ashes females too Luther was a bad man as is Mr. Biggs !! These two Legends lead by example...Thank You gentlemen.

The media loves to show us artists, dancers, musicians, singers, & whoever as separate entities. BUT, truth is all look at each other, get inspired by one another, & grow from one another; especially if GIFTED. Though it was a great performance, & as a tribute, everyone is supposed to show in THEIR way how much they LOVE the OBVIOUS GIFT Patti is GIVEN. The key SANGER here is Ron Isley, & if we look at the big screen while he sangs (and he is SANGING that song), Patti is showing she KNOWS what notes and phrases are about to come from him (meaning she studied him)....and the "youwhooo" should be quite familiar, as Patti has used it MANY times in her shows. This part, if watched again, and watching Patti when he sings, we see the connection in a long time of music they've shared and admired vocally.

All I needed was Ron Luther and JG. It's funny to see men's testosterone take over though. It was like let me sing, no let me sing, no I'm singing! Then JG was like watch this! BAM! 🤦🏾♀️Overboard. If he were here to watch this now, I can just imagine how hard he would be laughing. 😁
