Theres no justice if Kevin Anderson isn't acknowledged as a treasure of film TV, and so good at music

When Sunset opened in London, the concept was LA - vibrant orange, green and blues. You can see that brilliantly here. When the LA production opened, it became noir. I think it was a big mistake. Norma's house in pure gold leaf and crimson made people gasp aloud whilst the technicolour palate for the rest of the show made for a much more exciting piece of visual theatre. And then...... there was Patti and those death defying keys. No one came close to her......

Patti Lupone played Norma Desmond the best

Best performance I’ve ever seen of this - you can feel the frustration in Anderson’s voice given his own merciless battles with the Hollywood machine….he’s a theatre guy at heart.

Love Patti.. BUT.. I now see why she was replaced with Glen for Broadway. Glen has acting and so much facial emotion in the performance. Patti has great vocals but a stiff emotionless performance. Very different takes on it.

For me, Elaine Paige was the best. She captured everything and with unbelievable vocals

A lower voiced Norma makes more sense. LuPone, yet a fabulous singer, if stiff and does not have the acting chops for this. Close, Buckley and Paige are way more fitted for this.
