I heard this song first from Tony Bennett and have been looking for more recordings of it for the longest time! This one is definitely a keeper!

Penthouse Serenade was one of many fine 1930s tunes revived in the 1950s. It was recorded in 1932 as "When We're Alone" by the orchestras of Tom Gerun, Smith Ballew, and Ben Selvin. . In the late 1940s-ear;y 50s records by Mildred Bailey, Sarah Vaughn, Page, and others gave it new life. It has often been performed and recorded, usually as Penthouse Serenade up to the present.

The Page 1, 2, 3 and 4 albums were collections of recordings previously released on four-song 45 r.p.m. extended play albums on Mercury. In 1955 the label decided to start phasing out the unprofitable 45 EPs and create new 12 inch LPs from them. The albums "These Are My Songs," "Patti Page Sings for Two in Love" and "The Voices of Patti Page" were part of the same repackaging project. The world then discovered the best of Patti on record had been on 45 EPs!

But first, it appeared the year before (1954) in her album PATTI'S SONGS.
