Sure, the man probably should've been more circumspect in his comments but, darn-it, he fought, no holds-barred, no namby-pamby niceness. The most deadly conflicts have been fought entirely and overtly for secular causes. All wars, even those with stated religious goals, were also fought for primarily secular motivations. Religion helped groups chose sides, but in the absence of religion they would merely have found other things to rally around as they have in modern history. Communist Nations, and other Secular Dictators have executed, murdered, and intentionally starved more people in the last hundred years than were executed by ostensibly "religious" governments throughout all of history. After the secular death toll of modern history, the next most deadly were likely the Mongols, who were also not particularly motivated by religion.

@@nealmarasinghe7755 My point is, although both murder and killing involve the taking of another humans life. The difference is that murder is the taking of a life for something other than self defense. August of 2016 I took another mans life by shooting him because he attempted to point a gun at me with what I perceived as a deadly threat. I used my firearm to defend myself which resulted in him losing his life. In plan and simple english I killed another person in self defense, but it wasn't murder. I'm not much into religion beyond what is in books. The only reason I've studied different religions is because I served 20 yrs. in the military and have teaveled quite extensively. The one common factor of this world is each country/culture is stemmed in one form of religion or another. For me at least, learning about different religions allowed me to understand in some way about different countries and cultures. Its not to say that I buy into religion. Personally I believe religion is a fraudulent think meant only to control the masses. I find it extremely hypocritical of a TV evangelist condemning the viewers that wat h him or her, for not donating money to the church to help the "poor wretched souls" while that sam individual is wear a $1000 suit, lives in a multimillion dollar mansion, has a fleet of expensive cars and flys around the world in their own private jet to "spread the word of god. I dont buy into any of that for the plan and simple fact that in most "religions there is one piece of philosophy that you can't serve god amd mammon, mammon in this case being money. But what I do believe is that we each have a write to self preservation against those that would try to do us harm and protect those that cannot protect themselves. Hypothetically speaking if I were to see you being atrd and you were unable to defend yourself I would do what I needed to, to insure your safety. Not because of something someone wrote in a book said by someone that did or didn't exist. But because evil does exist in the world. I would hope that this never happened to you or anyone else, but unfortunately it does happen. There are people out there that cannot defend themselves for one reason or another. I apologize for this long response. I guess my point is simply this, the difference between murder and killing is murder isdone out of malice or anger.killing is done out of self preservation, at least in my opinion. A hyena attacks a lion cub and the adult lion kills the hyena, would you say the the adult lion murdered the hyena?
