When he turns on the camera crew & director in the lobby…"Why do you need this?" My answer "Because only once in every few decades or so, does someone come along who says things or creates things that you can't stop looking at or listening to: Michelangelo, John Steinbeck, Bob Dylan, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There are some things in this universe that are mind-blowing in their beauty: images of star nebulas from the Hubble, that footage of butterflies from that National Geographic show. Taking a camera to show the world footage of you pressing elevator buttons is the closest I will ever get to this kind of greatness or beauty. We all want to hear what you have to say. I want to hear what you have to say. You are my hero." And at the end of that, I would crack like Frank Oz speaking at Jim Henson's funeral ("That's when I knew he loved me…and I love him"), and walk off, crying.

I'm curious why the filmmaker chose the fans s/he chose. Like the first couple around 0:03 sharing a burger, and the large man who says something about how he perceives Oswalt as being the "voice" of the "upper middle class"... I wonder if there is intentional irony in capturing these kinds of fans? At first I thought they were poor choices, why interview this guy of all people, but now I think it was intentional. Still curious though.

Why do people keep saying he's funny....Iv'e seen him in films, I've listened to his jokes and skits and none of it is funny in the slightest. Normally I don't try to judge as much as criticize in positive way, but seriously people he's not funny and in films it's painful to see him perform. In cgi or cartoons yeah, but in the heavy spotlight NAY!! He reminds me of a city version of the larry the cable guy without a solid backbone of humor clichés.
@Omnishred10 жыл бұрын
You say you are trying to be constructive, be you really aren't. The only thing you have against him is just saying you don't like him otherwise than saying he's not funny and reminds you of a different version of Larry (which is not really an apt comparison showing me you really haven't seen much of Patton's material.) He has a contemplative, analytic style that contains a nice balance of sophomoric and nerd humor with fairly eloquent speech to boot. It makes him interesting to listen to most of the time and it is a style that has broad appeal rather than a limited demographic. So outright saying he's not funny is out of the question when he has headlined sold-out show across the nation. Although, you are more than welcome to hold on to your opinion granted that you give him more chances if you haven't already. Ultimately if you don't like him, alas, you don't.
