This! Right here folks, is the true voice of country music. There isn't a Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, , or any of these, so called country gals today, that can hold a candle to this gem of an artist named Patty Loveless. Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Martina McBride, etc were the greats of traditional country music in the 80's 90's and early 2000's What is called country today, for the most part, is nothing more than a crappy mix of pop, and rap. The heart and soul of country music died years ago, and I don't see it ever returning. The industry is catering to tweens, teens, and 20 something's. I doubt seriously there are many 30, 40, 50, 60, year old people, or above out there who are spending their money on the crap country music execs are putting out there today. If you want real country, dial back the clock to the days when country was country. Start with Hank and work your way up from there to the 90's. Yep! That's when country was country.

You nailed it. Regional influence still amounts to a lot. Ms Loveless makes any song she sings her own. More than her style, I sense it is actually more her truth. Her back-up musicians sure can kill it. Thanks for your kickstart comment. 🤟

This is one of the best-written songs ever. I saw Patti live at the Springfield Fair in Massachusetts and she left the stage at the end of her performance. I screamed at the top of my lungs for "Nothing but the wheel". After 5 minutes or so, folks were starting to clear out, and all of the sudden, everyone heard Patti (Not on stage) say. "I heard that", then she walked back out on stage and said "This is for the guy back there" and she pointed straight at me and I nearly passed out. She did an extended version and it was "PURE GOLD"

I'm a classic rock and roll kind of guy. My wife is country. When I married her I said I'm going to turn you on to some rock and roll and she said I'm going to turn you on to some country. So she started playing some country and when she got to Patty Loveless Nothing but the Wheel, I couldn't believe my ears. What a tremendous voice Patty Loveless has. And now Nothing but the Wheel is my favorite song by her. Although, I will listen to anything she sings. But The Wheel is my absolute Fav. I've probably listened to it at least 200 times. She is beautiful and her voice is out of this world. I love you Patty. Keep cranking them out, there is a whole lot of people that want to hear more from you. God bless you. 💖💕😘✝️✝️

@@jaysmith179 Sometimes I hear Ms. Loveless on my Sirius XM "Prime Country" station, which I subscribed to when the missus and I moved to a mountain top city 2 hours out of LA. We love it here (even all our trumper neighbors) but the one thing that really fries my toast is when I go to local Vons (seven miles away) and the parking lot PA constantly plays what people now consider "country music". Ughhh! Although once I heard a Dwight Yoakum, a Mavericks, and even a Reba song! Hang in there, buddy.

Shan. Right there with you. In the 80's (while I was still a hard-rock bass player) I was listening to John Anderson, Rank and File, Merle, Waylon, etc. Come the 90's....please. Martina, Lorrie Morgan, Suzy Bogguss, Trisha, Pam Tillis, Sara Evans, and yes the re-emergence of Patti Loveless....last of the "coal miners daughters" voices who completely owned the 90'S. As we used to say in LA: OMG! She is as beautiful as her voice.

I fell in love with her when she sang Broken Wing. My goodness she held that note at the end for at least a minute. I bought some CDs buy her and that's all I listen to over and over and over. And then one day I told my wife, I just found out Patty Loveless is married.. And she looked at me and said, Well baby so are you. Ha. I always told her that I'd never leave her unless Patty Loveless wanted to marry me. Well Patty's pretty happy with her husband and I'm happy with my wife, so I guess I'll just have to get over her. But man does that woman have a voice. And she's one of the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. If she ever has a concert in my direction you know that I'll be going to see her. But I'll be going home with my wife. Her name is Diane. I call her Princess Diane and I treat her like a princess and she treats me like a king. Been with that woman for 26 years now. Between Patty and my wife I guess I love my wife more. But dang, that Patty is absolutely beautiful.

This is my favourite song from Patty. Loved it from the first time I heard it. Actually reminds me of what I do sometimes driving late at night / early morning....................... I am an old cuss so my growing up as a kid was listening to a battery operated transistor radio. This song reminds me of older generation country music, of the kind my uncle liked, so that is another reason it hits a spot with me. And I have to say that I have always found Patty to be pretty darn attractive in a kind of subtle sultry way without dressing or acting like a tramp. It takes a special innate talent for a woman to pull that off.

Would make a great collection on a CD! Notice that in several they are driving Ford Galaxies or similar (Loveless, Roberts & Evans), a 57 Chevy (Martina McBride), and an Oldsmobile (Kathy Mattea).
