Patty Melts, my way

Need something quick tonight for dinner but don't want the same boring burger? Why not try a Patty Melt instead. It's a burger but different. It is delicious, easy to make, and will remind you of being in a diner with your sweetheart. Recipe below.

Ingredients:
1 medium onion, sliced
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp butter
1 lb ground chuck
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste
pepperjack cheese
thousand island dressing
Italian bread, sliced
In a large skillet, heat oil and butter until melted. Add sliced onions, salt and pepper to taste, and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender. In the meantime, combine ground chuck, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. Make patties the shape and size of your bread. When onions are tender, remove from the pan and set aside. Leave the oil from cooking the onions in the pan. Lay the patties in the oil flipping over when browned well. When second side is almost done, lay cheese on top and cover with a lid. This will help the cheese melt. Remove from pan when cheese has melted, and meat is done. Wipe pan out. Butter one side of your bread. Lay butter side down, smear with thousand island dressing. Lay patty on top of dressing, smother with onions, place second slice of bread on top butter side up. Toast bread, carefully flipping over, and toast second side. Serve with your choice of sides.

My daughter had several melanoma surgeries about 25 years ago. She is very fair and has red hair. The main thing is to keep a check on it with regular followup dermatology visits. Will pray for Paul’s speedy recovery. 🙏

I love patty melts but I am old school, was 18 yrs old for my 1st one, lunch break work by a the old Walgreens which serves lunch, awe those good old days, used dark rye bread with seeds, sautee onions, real milk cheese, great ground beef, the only way I like it. FYI read your contents on all food you buy..Lays full of chemicals, and the process cheese in wrappers full of plastic other chemicals. Which many of these food causes cancer. I am a country farm gal very old school.

Good to see you Pop (Paul) . I totally love a patty melt. I usually want a raw onion on a cheeseburger but for this sandwich I like cooked onions. With you cooking it it’ll be good, no doubt in my mind. I just got me a insta pot. I’ll be cooking in it for the first this weekend. I’ll be making pinto beans with ham hocks . Hopefully they’re gonna be good… Great to see you both. And of course I’m starving… Eating light tonight, a pork steak and a salad… that’s it. I love the Jones family… ❤❤❤❤With pop liking pepper jack cheese he might like this pasta salad I make. Just make the box traditional pasta salad and use Italian dressing. Add cubes of pepper jack cheese, mini pepperoni, black olives and green olives. Add as much or as little as you want. You may not like cold pasta salad. 😊I’m so thankful Pop is okay… 🙏🏻🙏🏻

When I first read this title, I thought you were making peppermint patties! Sometimes, I wonder about myself. These seem even better than the peppermint treats.
