Thank you, this is a gem for garter edges. If you use a crochet hook you don't need to put the loop on the needle after pulling a loop between the two stitches. Even faster.

This has become my go-to CO for many projects. ❤ It provides a lovely, substantial beginning & best of all, no worries about not having enough or too much yarn with a longtail CO. Thank you! 🌻

Thank you for this! I've worked out a way to do this with the tail and then knit across with the working yarn to blend in with garter stitch. It looks so good. You could do it with the working yarn and then purl all the garter but I like what I've created from your video, thanks.

the question as I watch the video again... what if I work a project with the cast on and bind off then pick up stitches on the sides and do the bind off... I think that that might be a nice edging for a textured baby blanket or an afghan or hmmm ideas go on...

i wish i had found this two weeks ago. i'm almost finished with a cowl that i decided i want an icelandic bind off for but i couldnt find anything that matched so i decided to use a provisional caston and bind off both sides at the end. this wouldve saved me soooooooo much time 🤦🏼♂️

You down size the needle for the cast on. Do you do anything up or down for the bind off. I was looking for a different edge to the Linen stitch scarf that tends to curve instead of laying perfectly straight -- at least for me.

Is there a simple method for tinking the Icelandic bind off? Mine is too tight. I’m finding it finicky to take it out.

If you follow me on Instagram you'll find many mini videos. I did one on the difference between a modified passover and the icelandic bind off. I show unraveling them both - instagram.com/reel/Cwcut0CsnP2/

I love the Icelandic bind off, I'll now try the Icelandic cast on...thank you. Do you know of a good bind off to go with the Chinese waitress cast on? :-)
@PattyLyonsKnitting4 жыл бұрын
I'd have to look at it again. I remember not being in love with that cast on as I thought it was a whole lot of trouble (many moves for one stitch) for something that didn't look as nice as many other cast ons. I'd probably do some variation of a 1/2 double crochet bind off.
@gilliantherese72024 жыл бұрын
@@PattyLyonsKnitting really? I love the way the Chinese waitress cast on looks, especially with basic brioche; I don't find it too fiddly at all...but trying to find a cast off for it has been a challenge.
@PattyLyonsKnitting4 жыл бұрын
@@gilliantherese7202 Oh, it looks fine, it just takes 3 moves to get one stitch on the needle and there are so many other cast ons (like this one) that create a lovely edge w/o so much fuss. I'll give it another try, just didn't like doing it.

@@user-fc3sx2cw5x I'm afraid I can't analyze your knitting technique via a comment. Try a larger needle if you are having trouble with your tension.
