Few things to note. Evolve & More are best recorded & videographed at MTV VMAs last month. The More you reviewed from the official video is less "rocky". And the Evolve from Bush Hall doesn't have the audio quality with the bass being low. I understand that there was a miscommunication about audio capture which led to this despite the fantastic 4K video. MTV, however, did justice to both these songs with the best audio from any The Warning performance till date. MTV may have moved away from music but they haven't forgotten how to record a concert with great audio capture & video editing involving right mix of closeups & long shots. Other than these two the girls' Teatro Metropolitan concert on 29th August 2022 is the best live recording available hitherto. So any song from that show is recommended for future review. And regarding Pau this was what I wrote few months back "I am over-Pau-ed. That's it. We need to talk more about this 5 feet nothing musical genius. Her songwriting, her conceiving a song including intro bass line, her harmonizing, her lead vocals, her tech-savvy multi-tasking in live performances, her drumfills & those incredible buildups on the drums, & her explosive energy that radiates through ether into our screens. Yes, her sisters are exceptional musicians & singers with unbridled energy. But Paulina Villarreal is gradually becoming that giant supernova about to explode into international stardom. Forget everything else; just her profound poetry alone is worth so many laurels." And the above was before I discovered that she is an incredible front woman - an Energizer bunny on a couple of Red Bulls.
@melvinthinks Жыл бұрын
Thanks dude. I purposefully chose the Shepherds Bush gig for Evolve (which got me into the band) because I used to live close by and had been to the venue numerous times 😬 I wanted to see how they'd perform in a tiny, sweaty venue. And they passed with flying colours! I think the VMA stuff came out just after I published More, which is a shame, as I always prefer live shows to MVs. Like your literature about Pau. Definitely the part about being an Energizer bunny! 😂

The Warning does not work as well as it does without all three of them playing their roles. the three-legged stool story. Pau is fantastic on the kit and vocals, but I have been on Team Ale since the beginning. She really does drive a lot of the music forward. She also will pick up rhythm parts when Dany is doing more lead work. The three of them jsut know so well how to work together, and we all benefit from it.

I agree. She is technically just way above average. I think she always has a lot work to do supporting both Pau and Dani a lot of the time at the same. She could be a great lead vocal but I think she's a little shy. She has that lower range that Dani has with a more melodic quality Pau has.

Dust to Dust is the intro song on DPA/TW's "Queen of the Murder Scene" concept album (aka QOTMS)... it is inviting you in to hear the deep, dark, and foreboding story of a young woman apparently in love with someone that doesn't even know she exists... QOTMS is one of those albums best experienced by listening to it from beginning to end in order... listening to each of the songs piecemeal and out of order is like trying to figure out a movie by catching a portion near the end, one from near the beginning, and one near the middle... yeah, it won't work out very well... as a concept album, many of us members of TWA can easily see it as a movie or Broadway stage performance... it is that good and to think it was written by them at a very young age and released as their 2nd album! i mean... whoa! who does that?? 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

*a little history:* many of us (shout out to TWA aka The Warning Army!) have been following DPA/TW (Dany, Pau [like "POW!"], and Ale [like "Ah leh"] aka "The Warning") since or before their first videos as a band started to hit the streams back in 2012... in 2014 a video of them doing a cover of Metallica's *Enter Sandman* from the "Black" album went viral... they did a few other covers but were also writing their own music, as well... they decided pretty early to not become known as a cover band... so they started releasing their own music... in 2021, DPA/TW answered a call from Metallica to take a song, any song, from the "Black" album, twist it around, upside down, and backward... keep the lyrics but make it something else... DPA/TW teamed up with Alessia Cara, a Canadian Pop and R&B artist, to reimagine *Enter Sandman* as a more haunting, eerie, and dark lullaby than the metal original... they did this in 10 days, during Covid, with Alessia working from remote in Canada... there are now three renditions of *Enter Sandman* done by DPA/TW... the original close to true cover that went viral, the OMV of the reimagined, and several of DPA/TW playing it in concert where it somehow comes out even darker and more foreboding bringing almost constant chills to some fans when they hear or experience it... DPA/TW started with music at a very young age... like 3 and 5 for Pau (drums) and Dany (guitar)... Ale (bass) wasn't even born yet... they started with piano and classical music... Ale also started on piano when she was old enough... as a family, they used to watch concerts on TV together... music has always been a part of their lives and they are influenced by many bands from years past... then came the game, Rock Band, which Dany and Pau played all the time with Ale watching and clapping along... Pau gravitated to the drums and Dany the guitar... Ale chose the bass even though she didn't know what it was at first... the bass was Ale's second choice for an instrument... originally she wanted to play the harp... they couldn't find anyone to teach her harp, though, so the bass it is, to everyone's delight! her original 4-string bass was a 1/2 size bass which was still quite big for her... later she went to a 3/4 size 4-string bass... today, Ale has several bass guitars but she mostly plays her Specter 5-string... since she was 15 years old, Ale is a Specter Featured Artist... her Specter bass has a 35" neck on it and the coloring on the body is named "Ale's Inferno"... not long after Ale started playing the bass, the girls realized they had all they needed to form a band and here we are, today... Pau is a powerful force behind her drums... in her younger days, she was likened to "Animal", the drummer on The Muppets... she put her entire body into every stroke... it was quite joyful watching her in action... she has refined her form in recent times but she still has a powerful swing and a much stronger sound... some like to say that "she beats her drums like they owe her money!" LOL since she has refined her form, she also doesn't break as many sticks as she used to... when she did break one, she seamlessly replaced it without losing a beat and many times no one ever even noticed... pure professionalism, there... in one of their interviews, Pau comments about having been playing the drums for 13 years... that was two years ago so she has 15 years under her belt, now... Pau also takes lead vocals on several songs while she is playing her drums... there are not very many singing drummers in the world, today... she does aerobic exercises and running while singing to keep up her stamina and breath control... she's been singing while playing the drums since her early years... you can find videos of Pau doing drum covers when she is like 8 or 9 years old... Dany is a goofball and total guitar nerd... she has numerous guitars in her arsenal... PRS, Rick Toon Spearfish, Manson, Gibson Explorer (gift from Lzzy Hale of Halestorm), and more recently, a mustard yellow Manson was given to her by Matt Bellamy of Muse, one of the band's bigger influences... DPA/TW have covered several of Muse's songs and more recently they have opened for Muse in Mexico and the UK numerous times... hearing Dany make her Mansons sing is quite the treat... especially when seeing them live... Dany is also the main lead singer for the group... she has quite a range (one vocal coach says Dany can hit D5) and can growl or put gravel in her tone when needed... she easily expresses emotions with her voice and her facial expressions drive it all home while she is singing... Ale and Dany both use Orange Amps to drive their sound... the three of them, together, create a huge wall of sound that flat out pummels you when you see them live... today the girls are 23 (Dany - Jan 30 2000), 21 (Pau - Feb 5 2002), and 18 (Ale - Dec 13 2004)... they have just released the full concert they did at the Teatro Metropolitan (Metropolitan Theater) in CDMX (Mexico City) back in Aug 2022... Mexico City (2240m, 7350ft) is higher in altitude than Denver, Colorado (1609m, 5280ft)! certainly higher than their home town of Monterrey, Mexico (540m, 1770ft)... you can find that concert on DPA/TW's YT Videos page as individual videos of the songs or as one video of the entire concert with opening and closing BTS (behind the scenes) added... the theater holds like 3500 and sold out both nights they played (Aug 26th and 29th)... some huge milestones took place at the 2023 MTV VMAs... 1) The Warning were invited to play two of their songs on the Extended Stage... 2) they were the only ones to play that were not nominated for anything... 3) they are the first Mexican band to perform at the MTV VMAs... those are all quite the achievements! for the VMAs performance, there were four takes shot... two 45 second ones for broadcast and two full length ones for each of their songs, *MORE* and *Evolve* which MTV has posted to their YT channel... DPA/TW have a working relationship with Pepsi in Mexico and have shot several commercials for them... this relationship plus being signed with Lava helped greatly with this milestone in their career, i'm sure... additionally, this summer (of 2023), they were the first Mexican band to play "Rock am Ring" and "Rock im Park" in Germany in 20 years... they have also been invited to play at the 2024 Wacken Open Air metal festival which is also held in Germany... i still can't believe it has been 10 years! it seems like only yesterday i was watching a very young Pau beating her drums into submission and then seeing videos of all three of them playing together as they started their journey... the rabbit hole is deep and quite enjoyable! come on in, there's plenty of room for more! 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

The Warning has three great singers, but one of them is shy and avoids the spotlight. Listen to Ale on the Enter Sandman MV with Alicia Cara. Or many recent concerts where Dany is tired, so Ale sings lead on a few songs to give Dany a break.
@melvinthinks Жыл бұрын
I'll seek it out. Cheers Keith 👍
@Amaranthine1000 Жыл бұрын
They actually have three vocalists, Ale has also sung lead, but she prefers not to but steps up when Dany is ill or needs a break. Unfortunately most of the videos showing Ale singing lead don't have the greatest audio, but yes Ale can sing lead and does a great job. This is my overall top song from The Warning to date, with Wildfire coming in 2nd and every other songs at third place equal.

♥ these girls! Speaking of great drummers (& guitarists & bassists)... Now that you've done The Warning & Lovebites, it's bout time to check out *Band Maid* They're an all female rock band from Japan. Oh and IMO the best rock band in the world right now! I'd start with one of these songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, or Bubble

Great reaction, love the comments. One small correction though, they do not have 2 quality vocalists, but 3, as Ale has song lead live when Dany was sick and she is also great. 😀

@@melvinthinks Ale is not a great vocalist , she is avg at best , these are just super fans who are blinded by their fandom , there is a reason Ale only sings lead when Dany is sick and it’s because she just is not as talented a vocalist as Dany and Pau and she herself acknowledges that , but she can fill in as needed and is sufficient enough to get the job done .

All three sisters sing. Ale once took over the lead part of a concert because Pau and Dany were both ill. In addition, Ale sings along all the time. You don't even mention her name in the entire reaction, but she belongs to it with a name.

My bad - I was transfixed on Pau's playing/vocals most of the time! lol. I did mention her awesome bass playing, but you're right she didn't get a mention for her vocals. I should hang my head in shame 😔

I agree, mate. She cements the band together and her bass playing is solid. But my my jaw was almost on the floor watching Pau and Daniella's guitar playing (I'm a guitarist so naturally focus on that). But glad I get I pass from you 😊

Ale is the third lead vocalist she has a Huskier ,sexier voice than her sisters so her low register is nice and she does alot of the high falsetto parts to songs her range is bigger than Pau's but smaller than Dany's who can go lower and higher than her sisters but the few snippets we catch where Ale cuts loose she can sound like Dany but she doesn't like to do lead .

Ale is great on bass. Often she has the most complex parts to play on any given track. Since she sings less than Dani and Pau, she can really focus on bass lines.
@Metal4Life666 Жыл бұрын
A lot of the times Dany is playing the same complex parts on guitar in unison with Ale while Dany is singing lead but she doesn’t get enough credit for that. Dany is super underrated
