@elizabethbarajas86142 жыл бұрын
Did you hear the album “Interpol”? He played bass for that album and it was not their best. However, El Pintor was really good and that was without him! TOTBL is an undisputed masterpiece. I agree with that, but I’m just saying things weren’t the same before he left.
@sandhanitizer152 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethbarajas8614 I think that last album with Carlos wasn't great because Carlos didn't have his heart in it at that point which caused the entire thing to just be a weird process for them to make the album. The first album without him was good because I believe they thought they had to work extremely hard to give us what we've come to expect from the original members. Interpol will always be great as long as Daniel and Paul continue working together. Hopefully one day we'll see Carlos make music with the band again and/or play some shows! And as far as Turn On The Bright Lights... I'd do anything to go back in time and listen to that album for the first time again.

@TheSicDominator I believe you are referring to a 2003 interview with Carlos in which the writer stated Carlos did not write his basslines which was incorrect. In recent interviews promoting S/T, Daniel acknowledged how important Carlos was to Pol's songwriting process and even going as far as noting Carlos wrote all of his own basslines and keyboard arrangements for the band. Even Dave Pajo commented the way Carlos wrote his basslines was "genius".

The good years before Interpol became a bit more scatterbrained amongst the members and before the overwhelming sense of pretentious behavior ran amok... Turn on the Bright Lights will forever remain a top 3 album of all time for me but I can't say I really get the same sense of enjoyment out of anything past Antics (save for maybe a couple songs off of Our Love to Admire). I don't get why some people were debating who's the most talented member and whatnot considering instrumentally, other than Carlos, none of them really showcase any extraordinary playing (Paul in an interview even admits that he's not a very good guitarist)... I don't mean that in a negative way but the band's strongest attribute was always their compositions and the way they layer sounds over one another, not their technically abilities with their instruments.

@tmf1977 I knew he brought in keyboards to the band. He did write all of Evil though, and without Daniel there they wouldn't even exist, he was the mutual friend between almost all of them. Won't deny that lots of the time the bass is the highlight, i.e Length of Love. Bringing different parts to the band doesn't make him "less" talented. Its a 100% team effort, there is no 1 man band dynamic like lots of groups. Obviously Dave would applaud the man who gave him a well paid day job in temping.

@Zeppelinfan25 I'm a huge fan of this band and I do agree with you that Daniel is responsible for creating Interpol. However I stand by my comment about Daniel. He is not a great musician. Paul carries the weight when it comes to performing and whether people dislike Carlos (or not) Carlos was key to Interpol's sound. There is a HUGE difference between Pol's live performances on this tour in comparison to Interpol's shows during 2000-early 2007 before Carlos became disenchanted.
@tmf197713 жыл бұрын
@Zeppelinfan25 Regardless if Daniel starts the song writing process, Daniel himself admitted that Carlos was responsible in working closely with him in the early song writing process and played a major role in song writing process. Regardless of what was then, I would bet my last dollar that the next Interpol record will be complete shit without Carlos. This recent record is weak and rumor has it Carlos and Dan had a falling out during recording S/T.
