When the male announcer questioned Carlos D about what surprised him and corners him because he does not answer something authentic, it is impossible not to observe Paul's smile: pure gold.

Carlos always trying to be annoying as much as he can be and to get all the attention (and thats does not take away all his talent as an musician) and Paul always so polite, serene, and cute; two different people and both an amaizing musicans.

they liked hanging out to together especially as drug buddies but from my understanding that kind of snarky shit whether it was a joke or not pissed paul off.
@burmiester14 жыл бұрын
@@blunderless Sam said Carlos was self centered and destructive. He was so arrogant about his style of music that Paul had a hard time working with him, since Carlos wanted his instrumentals to basically replace the vocals. Paul and Carlos would apparently go weeks without speaking sometimes.

@@paconeitor6666 Yeah I've got two for you. I love Sam because he's honest about just how detrimental Carlos was to the group by the end. I respect Paul and Daniel for always being respectful about Carlos, but Sam seems to think that people need to understand why they're better off without that petulant diva. www.hotpress.com/music/interpols-sam-fogarino-on-narcissistic-carlos-d-12546339 59:00 in. soundcloud.com/phil-smith-592966725/episode-99-interview-sam-fogarino-of-interpol

Angela E. They simply forgot his water. His bass lines/key parts on their first 3 albums are perfection.
@burmiester14 жыл бұрын
@@davidlawrence6464 Carlos didn't even write most of the basslines, Daniel did. Evil's bassline wasn't even written by Carlos. Any bassist could have done his part which is why Paul just does the bass now. Carlos contributed so little that they didn't even need to hire a new bassist
@davidlawrence64644 жыл бұрын
@@burmiester1 damn, that is some good insight. I do fucking love their new album Marauder and I believe Paul plays bass on that too, correct? It rips.

It seems like a lot of people think Carlos is being a jerk here, but I don’t know. When he asked for the glass of water near the beginning I think he was just being a little dramatic, sure he can seem like a pre-Madonna but I don’t see any harm in it, I don’t think he was genuinely trying to be rude to the interview. Him and Paul seem to smiling together afterwards too, so I think it’s just a bit of fun. Anyway, pretty good interview, I like when they were talking about weird places Interpol songs appear.

Whenever Carlos is saying something, look at Paul's face. :D I think it's a clue on how to deal with Carlos being a asshat in this interview. Note how the interviewers are serious about the superficial stuff they're saying while Carlos is being sarcastic, if not cynic. I hate overload of sarcasm and cynicism but anyway... Paul sorta guides you through this embarrassing vid.

I realize I don't know Carlos, but I feel like a lot of the time he is misunderstood for being pompous or whatever. In general, I've noticed that he's really articulate and seems to enjoy his speaking skills and discussing a variety of topics; he really is quite suave and interesting. Sometimes when people are like this, people think they're a snob. I find him very polite, honest, and intelligent.

Pretty evident from this interview that Carlos was very unhappy in being in the band at this time. Carlos was never like this during Antics and TOTBL. Hope he's doing ok.

That line carlos said about him wanting a drink of water was so unnecessary smarmy and rude. Even the way he said it sounds so pretentious “without my having drunk a glass of water 🤓” like he could have just said excuse me could i have a drink please
