Ahh. Remember there was Paul but also not only Avon, but the Sheriff of Nottingham (1975), Charles Bravo, Dickens' Mr Carker (1983), Macbeth (1982), Capt. Vimes, etc etc etc. Dozens of stage characters, from West End comedy to murderer after murder. Then he came full circle back to Avon for the Big Finish audio books and full cast audio dramas.

That was so very difficult to watch. Heartbreakingly difficult. That poor man. First, his wife passed away, and then both of his legs had to be amputated, due to an aortic aneurysm, and last year - on this day - he left this realm. I was truly shocked to see him as he looked in Pointless - he was in wonderful form, always with a great sense of humour and having a lot of fun during the entire show, but still, it was so emotionally hard to watch.

Bullshit! Everyone has to work. The guy is 75 years old and he has also lost both of his lags, so maybe these scooters actually matter to him. Acting is a hard, hard profession, and when you get so identified with one role...like you just said how far "Avon' has fallen, not 'Paul Darrow...then other work doesnt come easily. Its one reason Gareth Thomas quit. Paul Darrow was Avon forever after B7. And how do you cast Avon in something else. People will be watching it and saying, lets watch Blake's 7 instead.

What would you think of a plumber who would not fix a leaky tap as it was beneath him? The creative profession can be very snobbish at times.
