Loved this video, as well as part one, but... Am I the only one thinking that it has nothing to do with its title? How's any of this about whether mathematics is discovered or invented?
@simesaid3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Paul *does* mention the 'M' word just before the video ends, so I guess it's not strictly clickbait (if you're into mathematics, that is...personally speaking, just the threat of having to manually compute a long-division function is enough to induce immediate chest pains with a syncopated heartbeat. Thankfully for me then, I discovered long ago that the menus for Mr Kuhn's KZbin fare rarely, if ever, accord with what he places before you on the actual plate. Nevertheless, by the time a nice washed-rind Gruyere is politely offered ('courtesy of the owner'), I have generally found the food here to be worth chewing over. Hopefully you are now also *closer to the palatable truth.* 👨🏻🍳

It could be some kind of intellectual challenge - people must try to connect the title to the content through the layers of abstraction? Probably some flunky uploaded the videos and wasn't paying attention. The channel was an afterthought. The main act is the CTT web site / PBS series, which do have the correct titles.

You can literally hear the interviewers stomach growling loudly throughout the interview ,especially at 2:38,5:55 and 5:59.

X-Files Math is the language of the hostile alien vampires (greed). The capitalist counting corpses can create stark, sterile space stations floating in emptiness and futuristic bombers. But unlike earthling poets, artists, musicians, mystics, human beings and creators of joy...the capitalist counting corpses that rule US can't create harmony (real intelligence) because vampires (greed) are ignorant (dead). Vampires (greed) who suck the joy out of life have joined the zombies who eat the futures of their children. Zombie Apocalypse is here and happening now.

Neither Invented or Discovered but Evolved in a world of conscious thought that itself evolved out of the social processes going on in groupish apes as they struggled to survive and replicate more often.

If consciousness exsists in any universe it is not fake, if it exists then it is real, a "fake universe" is not fake, it is part of everything that exists, in order for a universe to be fake it cannot exsist, a "fake universe" is simply a different kind of universe
@REDPUMPERNICKEL2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. A conscious being is conscious whether of what he is conscious is real or simulated.

Maybe there were other universes (multiverse) in the past before our universe. Maybe, like evolution in living organisms, there was an evolution regarding physical laws in different universes. Not all universes with different laws have survived. Maybe they had 1 second life, 100 years of life, and then evolved to another universe. Maybe our universe is the only one that survived with these physical laws. Because these physical laws adapted to the environment (universe) and were able to survive to that day. This universe has also an end, then maybe after our universe cycle will continue.

No one says believing in God means stopping thinking.
@REDPUMPERNICKEL2 жыл бұрын
I think there are some who do say that. But they don't say all thought is stopped. They say some thoughts concerning morality are stopped. Many people find 'ethics' to be a very difficult topic and some avoid the difficulty by referring and deferring to a book.

To understand is not to understand. Does a rock understand the nature of its hardness or the wind the meaning of its swirling dance and the motion of the leaves, when light falls like rain on the surface of the mathematical formulas and the twisting tongues of foolish apes. Why would there be logic or rules and laws? A mathematics of desire.

Very late to this party. But the only universe(s) that exist are the ones that can exist. I have read that if any one of a vast number of variables were only infinitesimally different, our (all?) universe(s), could not exist. Doesn’t that men there is only one universe or that if there is a multiverse that they’re all like ours? The multiverse hypothesis exists only to provide an alternative to the fine-tuned (by an agency) argument for ours. It is needed only to disprove the idea of God.

Ideas do not age. Nothing really does. Why? Because time is just a convenient short cut way to think about the relative movements of objects.
