@@lesleyrussell8200 Many Maiden's fans have cried thinking about it, but we have to recognise that Maiden is Harris' project so what the sound of the band is only depends on him. That particular and unique sound of early Maiden was lost for ever not because of the depart of Di'Anno but because was music mostly composed by even earlier member of the bands in an age when punk ruled. Harris along with Murray love progressive rock, for them any punky sound is kind of a shame in musical terms. Just listen to solo Dickinson's musical work, his voice is other, is more raw, precisely what Harris dislikes. Harris' fave Maiden's album is Piece of Mind, a greatful and unique Maiden album but totally different from very first albums because they showed songs mostly composed many years before the release of those albums. Just compare "Prodigal Son" and "Children of the Damned" and you will note the "evolution", when music moves from the heart to the brain.

@@ManoVardasPato,what a coincidence that the sound changed just when dickinson entered.And the albums from number of the beast and the following ones do not change sound like it did after anderson it is because harris to each album gave a musical atmosphere in the style of what each album was about
@lesleyrussell82004 жыл бұрын
@@ManoVardasPato For example listen to the apropiate music of the powerslave,,then somewhere in time,,with those guitars of distant electronic sounds and the voice in echo of dickinson,,or seventh son with that gothic atmosphere...etc
@ManoVardasPato4 жыл бұрын
@@lesleyrussell8200 Without any doubt the albums after Killers sound rather different than the first 2 ones. But do you really think Dickinson was so important for the band to change for ever the musical ideas from Harris and Murray, the more stable members of the band and both fans of progressive rock??? I think not. You have to consider that: 1. The most part of the songs of the first 2 Maiden's album were composed a long time before the release of the albums. They were even created with/by former members of the band, some of them not playing in the albums. 2. The songs of the first 2 albums were created in an age when punk musical influence were very strong. I think this gave first Maiden's albums so unique sound, sound that touches your soul because punk is no about musical talent but emotions, feelings. 3. When punk lost influence and popularity in the UK and Harris had conflicts with Di'Anno inside the band, Maiden started to compose new songs without the influence of punk. Soon they got a new singer, totally submissive to the musical ideas from Harris and Murray, people that love progressive rock, not punk! 4. In that time, Harris told in an interview that he was looking for a different sound of the band to appeal the American market. So he was looking for changing the sound of the band. 5. Same Di'Anno told in an interview that he disliked the new songs composed by the band, in the time he was soon to be fired. I think if Di'Anno had stayed in the band the sound of the band had changed anyway because Maiden is Harris' project! And Harris doesn't love punk. For him it is even offensive to qualify first Maiden's album as having punk influence. Did you listen to the first solo project from Di'Anno after Maiden? It is absolutely pop metal, no drop of punk! And the band is called Di'Anno, so it's his own project!!! So why Maiden sounded kind of punk in the two first albums? I think because of other former members of the band and the strong punk influence of earlier years, when members where all very young and easy to be influenced by punk. Harris and Murray love Yes and Marillion... What of these bands have something in common with the sound of the first 2 Maiden's albums??? I think the Maiden we love so much of Di'Anno's period got his sound because of influence of punk music and punk culture. They are rocker children of punk! When punk was dead, Maiden original sound was dead, too and other new, totally different Maiden was born.

Paul Di'Anno needs to understand that the first 2 Iron Maiden albums are excellent! No one can touch him or get close to him as a singer! These first 2 Albums are amazing! Especially considering when you get to his age your voice starts to go. Maybe instead of trashing the guy you learn to sing arena metal concerts for decades on end and see how good your voice is then. Until then maybe pipe down.

I always wondered what the inspiration for the song "Strange World" was. I first heard it after reading William F. Nolan's science fiction novel Logan's Run. It seemed to be exactly what the book was about. A world where you live in a pleasure, and you never grow old. In the book, you never grew old because at age 21 you were euthanized. Anyone know how they came up with this song?
