Gazza and Maradona , the 2 greatest footballers ive ever seen in my life , Both had that godlike aura and could win any game by themselves , Maradona is the greatest , but if Gazza had the dedication of Ronaldo and focused more on his career he would have been the greatest to ever lace up a pair of football boots

Gacoigne was a brilliant player for a short while.Especially from 1989 to 1991. His performance's became more sporadic after that. But he's nowhere near Di Stéfano, Pelé, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Maradona, R9, Zidane, Messi, level's.

Shame hoddles ego got in the way of taking him to france.Rio went as part of the squad for the experience with no intention of him playing.Why not take him anyway but not as part of the squad?Why waste that space? Fitness?WC football is a slower pace and the group stages were enough to reach full match fitness.Would an experienced gazza have got that second yellow like beckham?Would you have kept beckham on the pitch on that yellow if you had gazza sat on the bench?Hoddle didn’t like not gazza being the Tottenham and england icon felt he he should have been.See his contempt for the teams attempts at free kicks in training,this is a squad with beckham remember.Great talent,great player but he knew it and clearly resented it not being recognised more internationally.
