I love hearing from these dudes from behind the scenes. I just turned my kids on to Recess recently and they love it. That show is timeless.

I’ve been rewatching the older seasons of Rugrats and was so pleasantly surprised by how well it holds up. And one of the episodes I watched I really loved had Paul Germain’s name on it! It’s clear that he did so much to give the show its identity, charm and character and took that aspect with him over to Recess too.
@WhatsInMyHeadPodcast Жыл бұрын
That he did. Animation is so collaborative but you can for sure pick out things that come from people. The writing and art on this show was so far ahead of its time. Have you gotten the chance to see the ep I did with Cheryl, the voice of Angelica?

What a great interview my names is Julian to. Paul Germain thank you for bringing me a wonderful childhood and a show that I loved as a child.

I'm so glad Paul took the time to talk about how great Jack Reily was as Stu, IMO one of the most underrated cartoon characters ever. That deadpan dryness was the perfect "dad" voice.

Definitely a talent gone way to soon: if they ever did a live action (which I hope they don’t but it is the current climate to do live action remakes) I would love David Duchovny as Stu

Paul made that show what it was. So glad we got those first three seasons from him. Arlene destroyed her own show and just watered it down. I was embarrassed even as a kid when my parents would watch the newer seasons with me, because I didn't want them to think I was stupid; and that's exactly how those newer seasons made me feel lol

One of the few shows I can remember growing up that even touched divorce was Disney's Hercules and it was actually an interesting take. Icarus' mom and dad were divorced and Icarus actively tries to get his mother to try to intervene with his father's wedding, but in a strange twist, she's just really happy for her ex joking that she thought Daedelus could figure out anything except women. It's actually a funny and touching episode that gives us a line akin to "Your family isn't being replaced, it's just getting bigger."

I just happened to watch the Rugrats pilot again and yes paul germain was right seem to be the original concept was that the babies hid that they could talk after the adults wasn't around

It is an interesting and brilliant take on a subject. Conceptualizing what we possible saw when we looked at a couch when we were younger, probably was a mountain. The whole thing is just a brilliant show so far ahead of its time

My favorite "Rugrats" episode is "Vacation ". What I like about that episode is when Angelica spots a singer singing some song which I couldn't identify; the guy who was singing is priceless. Some time later in that episode, Angelica tries to snatch the microphone from the guy to step into the stage and sing her choice of song. And when Stu picks Angelica up while she was gripping hard on the microphone's cable, I honestly don't know if she [Angelica] deliberately let go of the microphone's cable out of frustration with the guy over struggling to get her hands on the microphone or Stu just desperately pulled her away to find the kids. That part in that episode gets me. The 90s shows were golden laughable. 😁🤭🤣👍⭐🎭📺🎬📽🎞

As someone who's firmly grounded in reality, If I were a test audience member for the pilot, I would be completely sold if Arlene told everyone that this is all based off of Paul Germain's completely unrealistic fantasy about his baby brother.
