The Hibiscus donut from DOUGH is exceptional. They used to be a stand at the market with a 20/30min queue every weekend...they absolutely deserve their success.

Just tried Dough for the first time a few weeks ago. Dare I say, I prefer it to Doughnut Plant. I love the Hibiscus as well, but my fav is the Blood Orange. Surprising as I'm typically a chocolate frosted or caramel flavored type of guy...so I thought either the Mocha frosted or the Dulce de Leche with almonds would be my favorite. The Passion is very good but has a bit too much of a "floral" aftertaste for my taste. The Raspberry Lemon is also darn good and can't go wrong with the Plain Glazed.

"Hard water or soft water?" "Tap water." Relevant fact: NYC water is quite soft. Not sure if that came up elsewhere in their conversation, but a lot of NYC bread things are credited to that water (bagels, pizza dough), so it's probably worth noting. There are serious fans of the city water. Having also grown up where the water is fairly soft, I didn't really get it, it just tasted normal to me, but I've realized that it's mostly in comparison to water that tastes very mineral-y.

When he asked soft or hard and he said just regular tap, I thought that’s misleading because NYC is known for its amazing tap water which is soft like you mentioned, and yes the water us credited for much of the cities flavor in food.
@TheElitist264 жыл бұрын
It's not really worth mentioning because it's perpetuating a myth that just doesn't seem to die, i.e., NYC's tap water is what makes their baked goods "good." A quick google search will bring up dozens of articles debunking this myth.

Hate to tell you, Paul, but cheesecake brownies are nothing new. We make them every time we go camping.

Common Sense: Pretty much every place in the USA makes cheesecake brownies. I taught my seven year old granddaughter to make it last week. Paul Hollywood: OMG, I just invented cheesecake brownies!!! 🤗🤗🤗 That was adorable!!! 🤣😂🤣😂💖

I've done this many times. It does come out good but mine was never that fluffy and didn't have the big holes. Mine was more dense. But it does have a good crust and tastes good.

Dough has been opened for years (Brooklyn location) although this particular location is pretty new (but I think even it has been opened for a few years). Anyway, best doughnuts I’ve ever eaten and one of the first places I stop anytime I’m back in NYC. 🍩

This is an old video, was a tv series in the UK. I watched it on tv and I got rid of my tv nearly four years ago.

I know this show is 5 years old but nobody told Paul that Hell's Kitchen is actually on the WEST side of Manhattan?

And when you call it Hell's Kitchen, some people will give you dirty looks and say, "It's Clinton!"

My favourite thing is that the bakery isn't even in Hell's Kitchen, it's in Chelsea

@John Gilmore When I was a lot younger...like in elementary school, my sister and I "discovered" Krispie Kreme and spent a lot of our spare change there. Then, a few years later, I discovered Dunkin Donuts. Krispie Kreme ironically does NOT sell anything remotely crispy, never did, and that's why I liked them. Dunkin, at one time, made crispy doughnuts...now they taste like cupcakes with a hole in the center. My current favorite is a small chain called Daylight Donuts, they have a few variations Dunkin (as far as I know) does not have. I love the Red Velvet donuts.

@@howardkerr8174 man, if those are the only donuts you've had then you are in for a great surprise later in life. go to any local bakery, dunkin is basically plastic compared to a good donut.

Dough donuts are by far the best donuts I've ever had! The Brooklyn location is wayyyyy better though!
