that makes it more understandable why he expects so much of rudy on the demon continent, considering he didn't see him for years and is expecting him to keep growing at the same speed or even faster since he is being trained by a sword king. he was probably expecting rudy to be advanced level on swords fighting and king level at magic and being even smarter then he was now

that and Paul didn't really understand the risks of the demon continent. the demon content is basically the 6 sided worlds Australia, everyone talks about the random scary monster, but no one thinks about the fact that kangaroos have giant claws on their feet and can kick with enough force to shatter bone.

People give Paul a hard time and it’s not really fair. Paul is not the standard anime dad. Hes not perfect, he makes mistakes, he get frustrated, and doesn’t have all the answers. But Paul tries to do his best by his family, and he is harsh sometimes on Rudy. However Paul more then anyone knows Rudy is exceptional, and when Rudy makes mistakes or doesn’t do the right thing it kind of get the better of him. Paul isn’t a perfect father he’s just a father that gives everything for his family.

By the standards of Anime Dads he is exceptional, for one thing he is THERE. Anime Dads often range from Distant to Do They Even Exist? Like Deku's dad from BNHA and so many others. Paul is actually there and trying to raise his kid, that already puts him above most Anime Dads.

What people don't realize is that Rudeos in his fist life wans't a normal adult. He was a scared teenager, he never developed into adulthood. This is why he never was able to deal with womans
@phoenicianprince4635
@phoenicianprince4635 3 ай бұрын
Another important thing to mention is that Rudy's memories of his past life and his brain in his new life don't match up, the LN actually has a brief mention of this, where Rudy talks about how easy it is for him to learn several new languages, but when he was a teenager in Japan he struggled with his English classes, he essentially says that it might have to do with the elasticity of a child's brain. What this indicates is that not only does Rudy have a stunted emotional development from becoming a NEET and well he does have several decades of life experience, he's stuck with the brain of a child still with all the corresponding benefits and downsides. The benefits seem obvious; Rudy can learn things at a much faster pace, and when his adulthood comes around he actually has significantly better intellectual abilities than he ever seemed to have in a modern education system. The downsides; Rudy still seems to still behave like a child at times, Rudy seems to have no qualms about playing kid games with Sylphie, which given the context seems like he should become easily bored, but he never does, this suggests the emotional reaction he has to things is still those of a child, it even seems to impair his critical thinking skills at times in ways that can't be explained by lack of experience. Most reincarnation Isekai never consider how having a child's brain might affect their protagonist but Mushoku Tensei is different, several lines, and several key aspects of Rudy's behavior as a child make it clear that some of his behavior isn't just caused by his stunted development but the fact he has a child's neurochemistry & hormones.

23:00 "not many people would send of a kid before they are even 10." boarding school is a very common thing for the rich and famous. Paul was a lesser nobility, but nobility nonetheless. the idea that his kid was going off to be tutored away from home, starting at a young age is not only time appropriate for the setting of jobless, but pretty common even in modern society.

During Rudy's childhood, Paul was a great dad period. Both to his own son and to Sylphie. Granted we might be critical of his 'hows', but the 'whats' and 'whys' were spot on. Though flawed, he drew on what he had and got the job done.

I think within the world they live in, Paul’s action to send Rudy off was justified. A man has to be able to defend himself and his family from bandits and other ill intentioned people, so getting strong and learning how to navigate the world is absolutely necessary. Rudy had the fighting capability but he still needed the experience and connection that would later serve him well. Assuming the teleportation didn’t happen, Rudy would just stay in the village with Silphy, but he wouldn’t understand how people operate in the world (how to deal with shady people and problem solve situations).
