Actually the material is fine, it's his delivery! When you read the lines in his books they are funny. He's too monotone and doesn't project. His card work is superb though!!

I came here to say exactly the same thing. His jokes are much better when you read them (and less sleazy/creepy, more surreal). There's a reason why he made his living inventing tricks and never had his big TV break. He has the delivery of a guy who builds computers for a living.

Very lame card trick. I don't like any card trick where the selected card is not chosen by the participant. They are essentially told the card in this one!! I came here because this appeared in a top 10 self-working card trick list I read. It should not be on the list!!!

The cards hadn't been shuffled, so as soon as he turned over the first card he knew how many had been taken off. She dealt the cards off, reversing their order, so when he showed the second king o hearts he was just showing what had been the top card of the deck. Lame trick .

i figured out the trick just from watching the video. . . . . . . The card is forced. Specifically this procedure always picks the 21st card from the top of the starting deck. The setup. The forced card is on top of the deck. then exactly 19 random cards, then the other backed copy of the forced card, which is in position 21. the spectator reverses their cards, placing the forced card on the bottom of their packet. The magician deals out 20, then counts in reverse from the bottom of the question mark. each card removed by the spectator from the top moves the force card one space up in the question mark. All the magician has to do is count starting at the bottom. the only trick is to not let the other person see that that card back is different while dealing them out, that's why the top of the deck is concealed while he cards are dealt out. now if the spectator actually pulls out 20 or more cards at the start, that will break the trick, because they will see the off color back if they pull 20 or more. hence the request to remove a small number.
