It was just a dream for Florian. And he has simple dreams. To dance, to be accepted, to feel part of something, to be loved, to join company, to feel "normal". Despite of it, the song makes you happy. And that's why Paul is a genius. Every person who feels like Florian irl can experience a bit of joy listening to this song, especially daydreaming on it. It's kinda hard to link such a deep, and sad meaning, with a joyful song. I wish all the people (especially the outcasts, creeps, strange, the freaks, and so on) could be accepted and feel included through music. Music helps a lot. Because music means emotions and emotions means humanity. Please don't lose your humanity and practice it through inclusion. Saluti from Italy 🇮🇹🖤

Only discovered Paul 2 nights ago. I have pretty bad mental health at the moment and I cried listening to lots of his stuff when i stumbled into his music. But right now, this song has smashed its way into my top 10 tracks, and I listen to a lot of music! It's been on near repeat for 48 hours. So I just want to say thank you, I feel totally alone, ruined and broken. But this music sits next to me right now and it's so lovely. Made me want to dance again. Thank you

The Florian story still kills me every time I watch or here these tracks/videos. He simply wanted to share his wonder and amazement, spread joy. They trashed him because he didn't understand their fears, or jadedness, or social norms of interaction. They destroyed his innocence. When they beat him, he self medicated, destroyed his body. But his dreams remain pure. He may have to dream it to experience it, but inside he knows that if all those people understood his purpose and innocence, the dream would be real, their better sides manifest. Read the other comments and see how everyone has a different take. This is art. It's subject, far greater than the pieces themselves. We bring ourselves, elevating the gestalt. I'm glad you can't tell if he's asleep or dead at the end. It leaves hope he'll wake and heal and continue, that maybe-just maybe-the dream actually not a dream but something that happens later, that Florian exposed them all for the caring, loving, living people they really are. The simple and innocent can be the greatest teachers of all. I'm autistic, an aspie. I'm bipolar (type 2). I suffer CPTSD from a narcissist mother, a bipolar (type 1) father's violent manic episodes and suicide, a lifetime of never being able to hold a nonseasonal job more than two years, and falling for a malignant narcissist that all but ruined me. And I'm queer. We add our own myriad experiences to Florian's story, and I have no doubt that no two of us have quite the same response to it. I cannot hear this particular cut ("Feed Your Head) without getting choked up with all the feelings it evokes, hold back tears of both joy and exhaustion. It is a microcosm of the MIxed Episodes that I sometimes experience instead of hypomania. My introduction to Paul Kalkbrenner's music was Tomorrowland videos; so fortunately for me, all the emotions Florian's story evokes also rest in the comfort, love, sense of community, nostalgia (come on, it's Grace Slick), and hope that humanity progresses in wisdom and humaneness… that some EDM festivals fuel. I came of age when raves began to morph into full moon festivals, still word-of-mouth; and then circuit parties; and blurred sexual identities; and global citizenship, a place to live momentarily in the future. I'm a sap, too, I guess. I'm Californian GenX, but not typical GenX. Although I'm not a believer per se in astrology, it's fascinating that I was born during a window of about a year and a half when astrology of the Greek tradition predicted that the planets would be aligned just so, that those of my age would be different from the rest of our generation, much less earlier generations, very much OF our generation but filled with an emotional sense of connection to the global mind and the oneness of humanity, a spark of hope, a harbinger of the Age of Aquarius not yet begun. My experience is that the prediction is true, whether astrology is or not. It's corny, but cool. Maybe it's utter nonesense. Maybe it's fact. I suspect only those of us 53-54 years old quite get what I would express if I could put it into more comprehensible words. Or maybe the global children of the World Wide Web do. Now, how the hell is this song already 7 years old!? Life's too short, gawdangit!

"By creating the Florian trilogy, we intended to step out of the box and go further than ordinary music videos do. The trilogy is a complete story and touches upon social and emotional topics. Florian is an unusual character, a young man, isolated and on the verge of being autistic, who simply wants to share and spread happiness. He doesn’t play by the rules of modern urban society because he lives in his own detached world. And despite his good intentions he keeps overstepping boundaries causing friction and rejection. At its heart this is the story about conflicting energies and colliding mind sets, which creates the dark undertone in the trilogy. Florian wants the whole world to be happy - but the world is not ready for him."

This video is sooo sad, yet so filled with joy, about a person who just wants to be happy and longs to be loved! Even if just in his imagination, feeding his head. Saddest moment is when he smiles and is happy and is turning, towards the end and then you see that all the people (who he met before) are still sitting there. "Feed your head". Music videos don't have to cost millions to be as perfect that this one! This is Art, not just some regular music video. That is my interpretation of this video. Lost a friend to an OD, and so my apologies that its kinda emotional to me. She told me about PK, did not pay much attention, "Paul who"...and then this ran into my playlist....never heard it before, never saw it before. Thank you Morgan! I do have Asperger myself and could not stop crying when I watched this video. It hitted every nerve of my body. I have a good life now. I work as a nurse, have an own house, drive car,have friends, hobbies and family and I love my life.But this song brought me 20 years back in time. to a time when I was beaten up, screamed at, bullied, spitted on, chased, locked in behind doors in dark rooms and called retarded and less worth than others, just because I was different and anxious. it took me years to get rid of my nightmares when I slept. It hurts to see this video, because it is not just a video. it would have been me 20 years ago. I want to thank Paul Kalkbrenner for this video because even if it made me cry it made me realise I am not alone with my experiences. Praise the quirkyness, praise the differences, admire the people who dare to stand out. The world is a poor and underdeveloped place without people who think different than the mainstream. Even if I know this is fiction: Florian ( in the video), I respect you, I like you and you deserve better than any of jerks in the video who treat you like trash and I know what you are going through.

One of the prime reasons why this track hits so many people square in their body is because its rhythm mimics a heartbeat. I'm not talking about the actual beat of the tune but the synths. My guess is they sit somewhere around 120bpm, which dovetails nicely with the elevated heartbeat of someone experiencing strong emotions or exerting themselves physically, yet not in the range of exhaustion, panic or rage.

The BPM for most house/tech house sets is probably 112- 128, thus creating this emotive effect. However, the synths give this track such warmth and the trilogy is a brilliant short film.

IMO, the guy is not autistic. He is free. He has seen how fictitious and futile the barriers of ego are. Beyond the little boxes that "define" and imprison us there's great love and joy. If we only let our illusory armor go. Paul, thanks for your music and for this very intense, human trilogy. I hope to see you live one day and to dance-fly on your notes with many, many others fellow life-travellers. Aus dem Herzen,
@banaan90575 жыл бұрын
Yes he is autistic. He is only free in his mind as the whole scene of him dancing is just a fantasy, in reality he commited suicide. Maybe this went through his head while he lay on the bed waiting for the death. In his fantasy he is dancing with all the people who turned him down and beaten him up. I found a German website that explains the Florian trilogy in detail. "Florian ist ein missverstandener autistisch veranlagter Junge, der seine Liebe für die Musik mit der Welt teilen wil." Translation: he is a misunderstood autistic boy who wants to share his love for music with the world.

Dear KZbin community, Today, I want to share a heartfelt story that intertwines with the captivating song 'Paul Kalkbrenner - Feed Your Head.' It speaks to the power of music in our lives and the resilience it can inspire. In a small town shadowed by poverty, I clung to music as my refuge. Amidst struggles and limited opportunities, I dreamed of sharing my voice with the world. But fate had different plans. Through the mesmerizing beats of 'Feed Your Head,' I found solace. The lyrics echoed my journey of shattered dreams and relentless struggle. The song became my anthem, reminding me to nourish my soul despite the challenges. A devastating diagnosis silenced my singing voice, but it couldn't silence my spirit. I refused to let circumstances define me. Instead, I discovered new ways to express my love for music, finding solace in different instruments and the art of songwriting. Although my path didn't lead me to the success I envisioned, I've learned that dreams can transform and take unexpected turns. I discovered Pauls music in Jan 2022. I’ve been listening to trance, dance and Techno since 1991. Pauls music just hits differently from every other DJ I’ve ever listened to. Feed your head is hands down the greatest track I’ve ever heard. I can’t remember a track ever having such an effect on me. The more I listen to it the better it gets. This song lifts me up no matter how I feel. Paul is a genius and I hope I have the privilege to see him play a live show someday. Thank you for your music!

This is an amazing mix by Paul Kalkbrenner that synthesizes the powerful and crystalline vocals of Grace Slick with his ethereal and irresistibly rhythmic track that he has respectfully created. This is sonic pleasure to hear the original Queen of rock decades later, blending flawlessly with this modern techno sound.A very interesting albeit dark video accompanies the track that lingers in your mind long after you are done listening.Well done..

The Florian videos have a very deep meaning, people with autism or Asperger´s possess a certain innocence which allows them to see something beautiful in this world. Something others usually don´t even notice. For Florian, he finds it in his music, and he desires to share it, to share the beauty and make people feel good. He doesn´t understand social rules very well, the only thing he understands is that he would like to share his feeling. He gets rejected again and again, but he doesn´t lose hope. Not until his music player is stolen and he is disconnected from his feeling and from himself, later we can see that he is disconnected from himself has well. You can see not only his pain but as well his loss of sense of reality. That´s until he falls asleep, and he has this dream of where he is dancing to the music, he feels the music again, he feels himself again. All the people who rejected him are around him, even the boy who stole his music player. But Florian doesn´t judge, his love is pure and he just wants them to feel what he feels, he wants them to see the beauty he sees.. That is his biggest dream and by being himself and dance he tries to achieve it. Upon seeing that the people around him started to dance and feel the music, he has found hope and himself again.
