Hi Mato. Thank for all these amaizing videos. What if black plays Ng4 at 6:51, forking white queen and rook. Keres would be lost ? The only way I see the follow up is 1.Nxe7+ Rxe7 and to save the queen, white would lose the rook in e3.

I don't get it as I am at beginners level. Could somebody explain me whats wrong with NOT taking the knight and go for example bishop to D6 perventing rook to g3 and also leaving the knight hanging ?
@1b9d9j68 жыл бұрын
SepaXP Hi! If you're still looking for the answer, here it is. After ... Bg3. Rxe8+ If black takes with ...Qxe8 then white obviously takes with Rxe8+. If black would respond with ...Nxe8 then white of course wins the queen with Bxd8. Both situation are favourable for white. White doesn't even lose the Knight after all this because Ne5.

+Jos Aalberts Good Question. Suggestion anyone?
@JohnChandlerEdmonton9 жыл бұрын
+Jos Aalberts I think that then white goes Rook to D1. Then the queen either has to go far away... or it will be exchanged. And then the bishop will get taken anyway.

@digitalatom64339 жыл бұрын
Given how each ends up, with taking the queen black has somewhat of a fighting chance as oppose to not taking.
@mateusmuller81007 жыл бұрын
Digitalatom6 not necessarily. That endgame would definitely be a win and white would be able to hold it easily. Keeping the pieces on the board at least makes it harder for your opponent to find the win.

Black is not under any immediate threat. Looks like the pawn doesn't have to take knight? What would happen if black continues with something like knight from F6 to G4?
@salmarwow6 жыл бұрын
I am surprised no one answered this one. Black is lost. If knight goes to g4, then white knight takes bishop on e7 with check. White will win either piece or exchange, but endgame is easily winning for them in both cases
@albeatty98268 жыл бұрын
At 2:00 minute mark, if white knight had taken pawn on F7 it would have been interesting. Kink takes at his peril.

i dont understand the "trap" when black q takes pawn on d4. after knight attacks q, why cant queen go to d8 and protect the bishop on e7?
@LorenzoStroe9 жыл бұрын

@ranchump9 жыл бұрын
+Lorenzo Stroe no--knight to d5 blocks it.

At 2:05, Keres missed the check mate. If White Bishop from d3 to h7 check, then black king has no choice but to go to h8, followed by white knight e5 to f7. Check mate AND forks the black queen.

Mato, as a fellow subscriber I ask you to stop making more videos about Keres and move on to another player! Please! I'd love to see some games from other players. No hating anyway. I''ve been in love with this channel for long ago but It's starting to be boring for me to watch the same player over and over!
@elegomeskin9 жыл бұрын
+Ruben Aragoneses Did you watch the video? This game has virtually every element of the human condition : plans, tactics, surprises and disappointment, innovation and deviousness and even sacrifice. It rivals a Shakespearean play. Interesting yes, boring no.
@Drinko769 жыл бұрын
+Ruben Aragoneses You need to focus more on the actual games and less on the players.
@Fren1cc9 жыл бұрын
I didn't say that this game in particular is bad or that I don't like the Keres' videos. It was just an opinion because I like to see more diversity in the games. Every player has each own style and I like to see different styles. We've been seeing the same for a long time now.
@Drinko769 жыл бұрын
Ruben Aragoneses Sure there are some differences in style between players. But most players on this level are able to switch it up and play many different styles and many different openings. And I suspect most casual chess players would not even be able to tell which GM played which games. At the end of the day its the quality of the actual games that matter. Besides, I think its a lot of bitching about nothing. If you look at Matos back catalogue of videos, there are many hundreds of them that do not feature Keres. Even if you have watched every single one of them, many of them are worth a rerun. So there is plenty of diversity, he has just chosen to do a long series on Keres, as he is less famous compared to other GMs, but has played many excellent games in his career. I dont think there is any merit to your complaining, as you are not even paying for the content, its all free. Go watch some other channel if you are tired of Keres games, or watch Matos older videos.
@Fren1cc9 жыл бұрын
I think that you were a bit agressive in your words since I didn't say anything offensive whatsoever. I was just telling my opinion about one thing about the channel. I think I have the right to speak and tell my opinion in a thing that I don't fully like. I wasn't throwing hate on anybody nor bitching either. I've watched some videos more than twice and yes, I've also watched almost every single video in this channel. I don't want to go to another channel just because u disagree with my opinion. Next time think it twice before jumping out to somebody's neck like you did with me.
