Hello Mato. I have a question regared on making a video caption of a certain Keres game. It was played against Bronstein in Amsterdam, 1956 at the Candidates Tournament. It was an amazing game, where Keres position was hopeless but with amazing tactics and much finesse he managed to turn the tide and with your commentary the game would get a perfect touch. Thank you!

At 6:28, isn't Bh5 is winning for white? or maybe Bxb5 in the earlier move,
@eduardwerner30879 жыл бұрын
+Mojjj The Pb5 is doomed anyway, no hurry there. Bh5 would allow Black to sacrifice the exchange for a P with Rg3+ and Qxh5, then opening the long diagonal with d4 would give the great tactician Bronstein (who must have known that he had been completely outplayed) some swindle chances.
@zuhairsalman43855 жыл бұрын
@matojelic. At 6:30 why didn’t white play bishop to h5 , after taking the rook , white will do better at end game if they exchange the queens and rooks etc

Can anyone please explain why not white plays Bh5 pinning the rook (and forking the rook and queen) at 6:29?
@tmspironic64229 жыл бұрын
at 6:29 why not Bh5 attacking the rook and the queen behind the rook?
@cameront37689 жыл бұрын
I saw the same pin at 6:29, I guess that is also a good move, however, Keres probably saw deeper and wanted his bishop Deflecting Blacks Queen for his attack.
@matthewtaruno9 жыл бұрын
What if bishop to F7 at 9:00? Wouldn't that be a better move?
@bradyallen67909 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Taruno I was wondering the same thing, here's my theory of why. If bishop to f7, then if the white bishop takes on f7 then black rook would need to take on f7, then white rook would take on f7, then queen takes on f7, then queen takes on c6 and black loses a pawn.
@mastersuleyman40039 жыл бұрын
if bishop to f7 white will win a pawn

+MatoJelic, what if 41...Kh8? Then Bf7 isn't check, and after 42. g4 Qd7, Keres has what, maybe 43. Qf8 with Bg8 to follow? Still looks pretty good for white, but survivable for more than a couple more moves.

Always felt that Keres tanked his 1948 games with Botvinnik in the FIDE World Champion tournament. The Soviets were not happy that Keres played in tournaments in Nazi Germany during the war and tried to take a boat to Sweden as the USSR was "liberating" Estonia. And Bronstein's dad was recently released from the gulag to watch his son play Botvinnik in 1951 for the championship. His dad's crime was having the same last name as Leon Trotsky. Pretty sure he took a dive in that match to keep his profession.
