Paul Konerko is my favorite player of all time. I loved that era in my life watching Sox games with my Dad. So many great memories. Wrist injuries kept him from being in the HOF.

I miss hearing the stadium echo “Paulie Pauli Paulie”. There will always be a special place in my heart for Konerko. It’s a shame he couldn’t get enough votes to be considered for the 2021 Hall of Fame ballot. Either way the man is still a legend and doesn’t need to be recognized in the hall of fame he’s in a league of his own.

I took an 85 mph fastball off the face in high school. Dude struck me out in the first on this looping curve on 0-2. Next time up he had me 1-2. I knew it was coming....but it didn't. Layed my nose on my cheek. I didn't go down, just started walking to first. Ump grabbed my arm, turned me around and his eyes were the size of baseballs. Then the blood started pouring. Turns out I don't have any depth perception. That explained a lot. I could not hit curve ball. Straight ball I hit it very much. Always just thought the bats were afraid.

Konerko was supposed to be the 1st baseman of the future for the Dodgers. Instead, they traded him for a closer. Sure, Jeff Shaw was an All-Star closer, but it wasn’t worth the sacrifice.

Crazy how 93 games used to be the mark of an elite team, now it’s a team that squeaks into the wildcard further highlighting the reality of modern MLB. I don't think anybody underrates Manny-he played in Boston in his prime so everyone who watched baseball at all knew about him because he was constantly in the news. Thome is definitely underrated in the mainstream, but I think every baseball nerd knows what's up. But Konerko was a guy that flew under the radar of basically everyone outside White Sox fans.

Former Twin giving Paul respect. One of my top 3 players ever, thank you for doing this video. Look how similar his numbers are to Big Papi, and Papi played two more seasons. They weren't that far apart, and Paul played 1b, and never drank a "special shake." There is a reason there is a bronze statue at the stadium of Konerko.
