Edmonton took a 3-0 lead going into the third period with Sasha Barkov scoring early in the third.
Florida got no closer with the Oilers scoring two empty-net goals.
Barkov had a goal taken off the board in the second period due to an offside challenge.

Panthers is out of gas or out of heart. They’re slow, avoiding fights and playing like it’s regular season. It needs to show on ice that you want it more than your opponent. Yeah. I thought Paul's answer was a bit off. Based on the TV commentary, it seemed like both teams had video coaches up off the bench w/ better equipment. They communicate the assessment to the on-bench asst who puts it to the head for a decision. That said, knowing it's the world we're in, but really it's a brutal intrusion of tech into the flow of the game and undoes an extraordinary effort by Barkov and negating the goal that wasn't really assisted by being off.

Panthers D is good but ultimately a bit suspect, with reclamation projects like Ekman Larsson and Kulikov filling out the barrel. They don't have that true 1D horse (Oilers haven't really either, but that's a bit beside the point), since Ekblad never became a Norris level guy. Montour is offence only so when Forsling isn't holding up it's kinda meagre back there. Tkachuk's always been a pretty one-dimensional guy. What Florida needs for Game 7 is guys like Barkov and Bennett stepping up, or Reinhart or Lundell.

Coach, question. When you see Edmonton stacking the blue line on every powerplay, do you think it makes sense to just keep trying to break in the zone with speed? Or seeing you have only scored 1 PP goal and are being outscored 1-2 while on the powerplay, it might make sense to chip the puck down low behind them and work the forecheck that got you here.

Oilers have shown they are weak at times in the corners and infront of their net. If they stack the blueline, get the puck behind them. what a hockey mind. i saw my first game at chicago stadium 1965. i was 7. my dad and uncle were smoking cigars and drinking beer. the golden jet was flying down the left wing. rodger crozer was in net for the wings. i don’t think i saw sawcuck? Then, between 1974-2012 i didn’t watch hockey or sports at all. too busy raising a family and recreation skating and nordic skiing with my daughter. it’s a different game than 1968, curved sticks, or whatever went on during gretzky’s era. but some things stay the same. skating is fundamental. McDavid’s quick crossovers to gain speed. forehand backhand. the big german from cologne with the tape to tape back hand passes. some things don’t change. As Joel quinnville ( never really liked Joel and his canned one liners and colloquialism) would say of the oilers, ‘ i like our chances’. Paul is still a young man in my book. i like his clear rational mind. And when he employs the irrational ( with the popping veins) when necessary.

Who care if Coach Paul would not of made that challenge. Coach Kris' confidence to make that call knowing his team will kill off the penalty if they found him wrong is playoff coaching. It's the Stanley cup, this is when you take risks like this. I watched it at home and would have made the same call from what I seen. Paul's comment I felt was meant to somehow demean Coach Kris when realistically it shows truly why the Oilers are going to Game 7 and have a chance at being with Lord Stanley and all that have been there before. I like Paul as a Coach and wish he would have stayed in Winnipeg to finish what he started, but he didn't.

Long time ref here. Draisaitl hit warranted a suspension, two knee on knees (Nurse looked intentional and got 2 minutes),and a slash in the groin that gets a fine not a suspension is ridiculous. I'm betting there are 2 knee injuries from those and Barkov playing with a concussion. Maurice is too much of a gentleman to reciprocate what the NHL should have done with rulings.

Florida looks out of gas and Skinner is outplaying Bobrovski. Edmonton’s superior speed is pretty evident and Florida’s physicality isn’t effective anymore. Florida’s in trouble although still somehow slight favourites in game 7.

I think Maurice has to play Stolarz in game 7. Stolarz is a 6'6" beast who covers a lot of net with size. Also, Stolarz only ranked #1 in the regular season in save percentage and fewest goals allowed per game among all goalies in the NHL. You can't only play a goalie as good as Stolarz in garbage time (like game 4).
