Desert Trip Weekend 2 was nirvana.... and this performance, culminating with "Why don't we do it in the road" was something to be experienced. I was lucky enough to be there to see this as well as the moon rising over the backdrop as Neil played Harvest Moon. Surreal.

Our son Levon presented me with one of the greatest fathers day gifts that I ever expected. We went to Palm Desert back in 2017 and it was pure heaven! Brother Young has introduced a new way partaking of cannabis by saying this statement about the barbecue. The only disadvantage during the whole time was the fucking heat. Oh yeah we come from Alaska USA baby! The main reason but not the only reason were The Rolling Stones! I have been a faithful fan since 1963 and put it this way the Rolling Stones are still doing gigs 56 years later and that in itself is got to be some kind a awesome record!

We were there, such a magical weekend! These two did Saturday night and it was just fantastic, coming the day after the Stones and Dylan. And then we got the Who and Roger Waters the next night. Perfect weather, everyone being friendly and laid back. There was a sense from all the bands that they wanted this to count, to show they still had it, and they sure did. (Dylan was the exception, of course, coming off his Nobel Prize a few days before, which Keith Richards seemed to be more impressed with than Dylan was. Dylan was good but not showing off.) Stones blew the place away on Friday. Neil and Macca were superb and never-ending. The Who had something to prove and did so (Townsend bloodied his hands and delivered the goods). Roger Waters put on just an AMAZING closer. Just a great festival, great memory, especially now, during Covid, and with the great Charlie Watts having left us, RIP.

I think its fair to say that neil didn't realize his whammy bar hooked Pauls' input chord and pulled it out. Good on the tech/roadie, whoever who noticed no sound from Pauls bass and plugged him in Might be time for a tune-up, replacement for input jack on your bass, Paul Hope you did'nt blame the guitar tech. Unless he has a spring steel pressure gauge to measure pressure levels of spring steel of unknown sources used in replacement parts.

Did Neil just.. The strings... WTF
@JoeSzilagy4 жыл бұрын
He probably grabbed, and yanked all of them near the bridge. They break easy there, as the binding unwinds quickly. Obviously just for fun, since his part the show was over. Saw Jeff Beck do it at the end of a Tokyo concert video- hilarious! Also saves the guitar tech the job of taking them all off to put a new set for the next show!
@karlstromvall43196 жыл бұрын
to be fair, once again, he does have forearms like a farm worker, and probably finger strength like an orangoutang .....so the bends at the end were probably sheer metal fatigue. Never seen three strings broken at once. Neil, please don't throat punch me with your fingers!

goes to show, when you're in a loud environment and concentrating on vocals, you might not notice for a moment, your guitar is not plugged in. wouldn't happen for a lead guitarist, tho, just saying. you'd notice that straight away, singing or not

@karlstromvall43196 жыл бұрын
how many strings did Neil break at the end of why don't we do it in the road?! you can blame the tech on that one. Neil, stop stringing your own guitars. and get a fine file. That guitar has issues
