Ýeah I was thinking the same. It speaks to McCartney ' s genius because Neil's approach revealed to me at least how fantastic the arrangements basic structure is... chords n duh...melody. Musicians often insinuate that 'pop' is over simplified music for the dumb masses but when a song works this well that it becomes a classic.. the exact opposite has taken place - its like reinventing the wheel. So Paul reinvented the wheel more times than anyone else . But he always credited everything and everyone else for that...- Little Richard, Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers...etc etc

@@thebrooklyngardenclub225 I appreciate this insight but just remember its a label, nothing more. It exists mainly because of business. Now where would we be without categorization? Categorization makes the world a lot easier, we even have maps. I love "pop music" if they call it that. I think if I were to give it a definition, it would be the ppl's music because it is easier to memorize and play to everyone else rather than an extraordinary cimplex piece. The human brain seems to grasp it better. My opinion is that everyone has a different mind which is why there are audiences for different music or even different comedians. It doesn't matter if the music is complex or simple. What matters is if you got your point across in making a good song. Sometimes simplicity is all you need to make your point. Ppl say George Harrison always chose the right notes. That part of the song the commentator referred to earlier, Lennon, McCartney, and George Martin all collaborated their ideas to make this happen, and that's what happened. John and Paul were influenced by avante garde artists like Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, and Luciano Berio.

After this incredible generation of musicians passed on, there will be a thousand years of silence as there is no one coming up behind them to replace them. We were even spoiled to have them playing for decades. That was unheard of in the past at least for Rock music. But I suppose it won’t matter to me because I won’t be around anyway. The newer generation will probably not care anyway about music so it doesn’t really matter. It’s definitely the end of a golden Era.

I can’t help but wonder what Paul was thinking as he watched Neil sing John’s part to what is probably The Beatles most famous, if not best song of all time? (I believe he was thinking I wish John was here he’d diggin’ this as much as me.)❤️

We were there very close up. Memorable moment when Paul McCartney came on and sang with Neil. Love Rick and Chad smiling away and Peggi's face at the end when Neil and Paul play the xylophone.

Paul looks like he’s having a shitload of fun and doesn’t really care what happens. Ideal. And Neil going to town. Genius. Like two kids playing, the way music should be.

I was privileged to see Neil Young perform in 1969, then several times after. I watched him play with Cosby, Stills, and Nash also. I discovered the Beatles in 1963 and fell on love with them. So many other genius greats from the 60's and early 70's. Few even come close to the music of my generation. Maybe Radiohead, James, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes...I was able to share my music with my kids and they love it almost as much as I do. This was a brilliant performance. I played it several times. Wow.
