Paul returns to Studio 2 at Abbey Road. The room where all the Beatles records were made. For an intimate journey through his songwriting history. From his very first Beatles song to the work on his new album "Chaos & Creation In The Backyard".

Though this is just your standard blues progression, Paul here played bass, guitar, drums piano and made up lyrics as he went, and did all of that quite spectacularly. Not every musician can boast doing that good of a job. Also, is it just me, or is his voice getting even better with age?

@tomasfc 14 жыл бұрын
It's a 1962 Epiphone casino with Bigsby which he bought in 1964, used it to record lots of Beatles songs, like Taxman, Ticket to Ride, The End, etc. John and George liked it so much, they went out and bought theirs. John's (without bigsby) became his signature guitar.

This was marvelous. How often I've wished that I was a fly on the wall of just one of his sessions. He was and is a master of allowing just enough space in those tracks to complement his terrific voice as a centerpiece for it all. Those who think this is 'easy', being simple, ought to try it and find out for themselves how many ways it can go wrong. Thanks for sharing this!

Yes that's how it's done. I do the exact same things, playing drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar just like Sir Paul does here. One huge difference however is he can really sing well but I can not. The other difference is in my little studio I am also the recording supervisor and sound technician. Still all in all using an 8 track recorder is the key that allows all of this to happen.

I'm so glad he was a fan of Little Richard and not some Rapper... or DJ , who presses a button on the CD player and stick his finger in the air.... he was born on the right moment in time. Yeah man, "When you burn your behind you have to sit on the Blisters" that's what my dad said when i told him i wanted to be a musician. You made me do it Paul... thanks.

Outstanding. You don't need to be a Beatles or McCartney fan to appreciate talent and ability - anyone who doesn't play an instrument (or even some that do) and think that this is easy have no idea. This vid is great insight into how much music simply flows through his veins. Great stuff.

A lot of folks seemed to be awed by this simple 60 year old recording technique. Of course he's Paul McCartney and he's absolutely one of the Icons of our lifetimes.....but a bunch of you are quite easily entertained by this rudimentary recording lesson....Like Neil says "It's not the music, It's the mystique"

Hey Sandra, I see that Sir Paul is wearing a wedding ring. This is exactly how multi-track recording is done on a computer for all the folks who are wondering. It doesn't matter if you do it at Studio 2 at Abbey Road or in your music room at home. You just build the song up in layers, one instrument at a time. Thanks for sending this one luv. BSP

Another great example of - - when the Beatles were off doing their own separate tracks for The White Album - - why one of the Fab Four didn't really need anyone else. And yet ironically, he was the one who was trying his hardest to keep them from falling apart. Love you, MACA.
