After 60 years of writing songs, I would say PM can do what the ''fuh' he wants.
@Bunny-zg4hd6 жыл бұрын
Just because he can do what he wants doesn't mean this is any good at all. If any generic pop artist released this it wouldn't even be good for their standards, so it's a cancerous cell in McCartney's career

The man really has done a lot for music these last 6 decades, and he's earned the right to do The Fuh he wants!!
@USAPethead5 жыл бұрын
@@Bunny-zg4hd People have been saying that about his records since the beginning of his solo career. The press and even many of the fans hated, trashed, and criticized so many of his albums, McCartney, Ram, Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway. If he worried about living up to everyone's standards he wouldn't have made any music in the last 60 years. Also, this was his FIRST album to DEBUT at number one on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, so I would respectfully disagree that it's a cancerous cell in his career.

Yes, "I just want it fuh (for) you!" is what is shown on lyric sites (which are often wrong). In the video, however, the slap labels are "Want" and "FUH YOU" without an "It" or a "To" in between (obviously deliberate). And when Paul sings it, it's not clear as to exactly what he is saying either (also deliberate, I'm sure). I'm curious to see what the lyrics are on the CD. In any case, "It," "To," or "Want Fuh You", I really wish Paul hadn't done this one.

I'm not really into modern music. But this song is so incredible to me because this is a guy who was making songs like "Love Me Do" back in the 60s, and now in 2019 made this modern song that sounds just like the type of music these younger artists would put out today. He's seen multiple decades of music, and has stayed with the times while still writing some of the best songs. That's amazing!

I think it is great that Sir Paul has generated so much discussion about this song. Even at the age of 76 he can cause discussion about his music, and not just his old music, but his new music. I can imagine this song being sung at his concerts. It has that anthem like chorus that everyone, of every age will sing along with. Even those who say they do not like it have to admit that the melody seeps into our heads very easily. That is part of the magic of Sir Pauls compositional skills.
@ktpinnacle6 жыл бұрын
This melody is already in my head - from virtually every pop song produced over the last decade. His new music sounds like old music by any number of pop hacks. It's so banal that I wonder like others whether it's a swipe of current pop music. If not, I'm concerned whether Paul has lost his stuff.

@weirdplanet108 But it is HIS legacy after all. Paul has managed to be one of the most successfull musicians of all time, he and The Beatles have literally changed history. I'm pretty sure Paul's legacy will be remembered as something more than just one particular song.
@Gabrielecgomes16 жыл бұрын
@weirdplanet108 I still think there's nothing wrong with this song, but I understand your disapointment. 'Fuh You' will never have the same quality and relevance as 'Eleanor Rigby' or 'Hey Jude', but, at the same time, it was never really meant to. Paul knows that, and he's totally okay with it. And for me, as long as he's around and willing to make music, I'll be here to listen. Ps: It's great to have some young and talented artists making good music nowadays, and the fact that they're not having the same space and opportunities that other artists is terrible. I Hope that will be changing in a near future.

He doesn't owe anyone anything. Yes, it's not what I even thought his new songs would be. But This Man has given all he has to his profession and to himself. If he gets joy in what he does, he deserves it again and again. I watch the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and it was like "WOW" right away. I was 10.... I just watch a video of a girl who was 9 and she cried when she got tickets to see him, and ended up on stage. This is what Paul has done all his life. I've had even his least fav cd's but I will never say he has to write or sing something that makes me happy. I'm already happy he's been a part of my life in believing he does his best. So if it's not your style, that's not his fault.

Relax, cellar dwellers. The official lyrics are “I just want it fuh you”. By the way, let’s not forget the COUNTLESS double entendres and downright overt sexual references that The Beatles and Wings used in several of their songs: “Lie on the bed, get you ready for my body gun ... I’m gonna do it to ya, gonna do ya, sweet banana. You’ve never been done.” (Hi, Hi, Hi, 1972) “Oh, show me ‘round your snow-peaked mountains. Way down south, take me to your daddy's farm ... come and keep your comrade warm.” (Back in the U.S.S.R., 1968) “She's a big teaser; she only played one night stands.” (Day Tripper, 1965) “You can penetrate any place you go.” (Dig a Pony, 1970) “And for the first time that she really done me, ooh she done me, she done me good. I guess nobody ever really done me, ooh she done me, she done me good.” (Don’t Let Me Down, 1970) “Well, she was just seventeen, you know what I mean.” (I Saw Her Standing There, 1963) “We're all alone, and there nobody else. You still moan. Keep your hands to yourself.” (I’m Down, 1965) “... Come on! (Come on!) Please please me, oh yeah, the way that I please you!” (Please Please Me, 1963) “Why don't we do it in the road? No one will be watching us. Why don't we do it in the road?” (Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?, 1968) “What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.” (With a Little Help from My Friends, 1967) Quote from Paul McCartney in 1997: “It was always amusing to see if we could get a naughty word on the record: ‘fish and finger pie’, ‘prick teaser’, ‘tit tit tit tit.’ The Beach Boys had a song out where they’d done ‘la la la la’ and we loved the innocence of that and wanted to copy it, but not use the same phrase. So we were looking around for another phrase, so it was ‘dit dit dit dit,’ which we decided to change in our waggishness to ‘tit tit tit tit,’ which is virtually indistinguishable from ‘dit dit dit dit.’ And it gave us a laugh. “It was to get some light relief in the middle of this real big career that we were forging. If we could put in something that was a little bit subversive then we would. George Martin might say, ‘Was that “dit dit” or “tit tit” you were singing?’ ‘Oh, “dit dit,” George, but it does sound a bit like that, doesn’t it?’ Then we’d get in the car and break down laughing.” So quit beating your self-righteous, hypercritical drums and enjoy the damn song! You still rock, Paul!!

Kevilroo We’re making JOKES about the mishearing of the lyrics. We know what the actual lyrics are, obviously. That’s not the part of the song people are complaining about. People are complaining about it being generic pop music unlike Paul/The Beatles previous music. Band on the run, uncle Albert, Golden slumbers, Eleanor rigby, yesterday. Even the ones you mentioned were better than this pop garbage. At least those had some creativity behind them. This is just mindless radio ringtone pop. There’s no creativity, and this certainly doesn’t even live up to NEW.
@Peppers197819786 жыл бұрын
@@gabep3132 All of those songs you mentioned are also 48 to 55 plus years old. Paul has written goofier songs like this. Lennon of course would hate this song but he hated alot of Paul's "silly love songs". Paul also is a mainstream pop artist. Do you forget the songs he did with Michael Jackson or Kanye West?
@PositivelyPam6 жыл бұрын
The difference is those were all good songs. This one sounds autotuned and like he's trying too hard to stay relevant and compete with today's music.

There’s nothing new about pop artists trying to stay relevant by releasing mainstream POP MUSIC. It’s called “pop” for a reason. No one is saying that this is comparable to ‘Let It Be’. People are being overly critical. It’s pop music. Get over it.
@gabep31326 жыл бұрын
Jason Harshman a. The song he did with Kanye sucked as well. And I’m actually a fan of Kanye. Admittedly, I haven’t heard the songs he did with Michael, so I can’t say anything about those. b. The songs that qualified as “pop” and “silly love songs” back then are WAY better than modern pop music. This sounds like a Katy Perry song.

Egypt Station has 16 songs. 15 produced by Greg Kurstin (including Come On To Me and I Don’t Know). 1 by Ryan Tedder (Fuh You). If you don’t like this contemporary style, don’t worry ‘cause the album is going to be more like the first two singles. But also understand it’s great that Paul does ONE song following the current waves.

For me - that is good news because Greg’s production value on the latest Foo Fighters’ album was top notch. Not a fan of this song but it does not diminish my anticipation for the rest of the album.

Fantastic song and production. Great to hear Macca doing something worthy of his former self. Best composer of popular music triumphs again. Fuh you, the doubters.

@@danielpatternson6149 Sorry pal ... you are off topic. The issue I made very clear on my comments was not the composition but the production hence the sound. I grew up listening the production inventions of George Martin, nuff said. This hyper squeezed, iphone commercial sound alike is a piece crap ! No matter if the label says "Sir Paul"

Some people are coming down on Paul for losing his magic. But it's only fair to remind you that this was the same guy who wrote "All Together Now" before he was 30 and "Spies Like Us" into his 40s. While neither are "bad" songs, they certainly don't measure up to his reputation for being a classic songwriter/composer. So it's only fair to acknowledge that with every "Hey Jude", there's always going to be an "All Together Now" in the mix.

I like All Together Now. I don't know if he wrote the song, like Yellow Submarine, with children in mind but I have alway thought that that was his intention considering it appeared in a cartoon movie.

He said during the Out There world tour "This one is for the kids" before playing All Together Now.

I personally love "All Together Now" (and "Spies Like Us") and am an avid fan of McCartney, probably one of the few that prefers the longer version of "Check My Machine". I love this song. But I would just have to say it doesn't really rank up there with his best. Then again, the entire McCartney II album took me years to warm up to but now find it one of his best.

I think it's totally brilliant; how he did it again after everything he's done is astonishing. The comment from kinginfinity is right on the money. Not everything on Egypt Station at first listen makes sense to me, but neither does life in general. The fact he's searching and still making mistakes as he discovers new hooks and melodies is to be applauded. The harsh reality is sometimes Paul gets a little lost as we all do, but finding his way back vindicates the effort. IMHO, I say, "Well done."

The fact that Sir McCartney decides to run with nowadays beat and style means nothing to me. He is a legend and has given us beautiful songs in the past, this might be the exception for some out there, but who are we to judge? He is allowed and entitled to play whatever he wants. A real Beatles fan will acknowledge.
