I agree totally, because I´m a great fan of him and his work, but I would like to suggest that artists like Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, Bob Dylan, David Gilmour, Mick Jagger and a few others might come close to him when it comes to longevity, musical persistance and influence. People sometimes forget what a great guitarist he is. His lead lines in the Beatles tunes are epic. Neither The Beatles or Paul were into ‘guitar solos’ like so many bands were into,, but almost every humbucking distortion wailing line in a Beatles song is Paul. George preferred a clean sound especially in the early days. Paul is such a flat out genius, he developed quickly and used every possible setting & sound combination you could make with a guitar. I’m thinking the solo in Taxman. Recorded in April 1966!! I mean seriously!
