Probation turns 40 years old this year.
Paul McCusker, Probation Area Manager, reflects on his 30 years working in Probation and explains how Probation is taking this opportunity to tell its 40 year story of Changing Lives for Safer Communities.
Paul said: “I know I have seen many changes and met some wonderful people over my 30 years as a Probation Officer. This is a great opportunity to tell our collective stories over the last 40 years and explain to wide audiences the work we do to change lives for safer communities."
Hi everyone.
December 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Probation Boards creation in 1982. I started my career in probation in 1992 so I will reach my own 30 year milestone this year.
I know many Probation staff have worked here for much longer than I have and this year we want to take the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of all of the staff. We have established an organising committee made up of volunteers who will take forward 40th anniversary events throughout 2022 up to the official birthday in December.
All staff are welcome to join the committee, and we would also like to hear from colleagues and partner organisations about their experiences of the past 40 years - from the 1980’s up to today - of what it has been like to work with and for the Probation Board for Northern Ireland.
I know I have seen many changes and met some wonderful people over the last 30 years. This is a great opportunity to tell our collective stories over the last 40 years and explain to wide audiences the work we do to change lives for safer communities.
