Thank You once again for a phenomenal historical chess. Was Charles Maurian an Armenian by any chance?
@kenallen4175 Жыл бұрын
I would guess so as he was Morphys good friend but I’m not 100% sure

His surname sounds like Armenian but according to wikipedia his family was French origin. But maybe he was Armenian origin too, sadly there are not enough informations about Maurian.

Poor Maurian, best friend of Morphy ... but Paul had no mercy on the board😅

What would Charles Maurian be? Like a 1700 maybe?

I say maybe lower rated. 1700 Fide is actually not that bad. I see many 1700 fide rated players online and they are at least 2100 or 2200 at online blitz chess at chess com. I think Maurian was like 1500 and Morphy was around 2300 - 2400 fide. I'm just guessing ofcourse maybe I'm completely wrong, maybe they were much higher rated who knows. Thanks for watching.

@@historicalchessvideos8017 I feel like Morphy was even higher than that. He could play 8 masters blindfolded and he was confident that he could play 20 at the same time. I have met chess masters at around 2200-2400 fide rating and they barely can play 1 or 2 weak players blindfolded.

@@pedroroque829 I understand, good point. Well obviously he had the potential to be at least 2700 fide but he needed the chess engines, modern theory, computers and all the benefits of the chess players of today. But sadly back than there were no established theory of chess nor thecnology, so I think being 2400 back in 1850s was like 2800 of today, it is unbelievable. But I completely agree about the blindfold part, now thats a sign of being exteremly stong and talented.
